The problem being that it's being sponsored by known and highly publicized anti-video games activists like Lieberman, and as such, are likely to be biased and maybe fudged. I would feel much better about it if it were carried out by some other organization that has no opinion on the matter of all and is actually just collecting facts.

What I see happening is that because it is antivids running the show, they are likely to do surveys in areas known to have people who are antivid, or blind supporters of them.

The ideal method would be that of taking random, drawn out of the hat 10 people who from each school. Then, have ten gamers put themselves up there and compare them to the other ten, non-gamers.

I'd much rather play a game that requires strategy and thinking than one where you either run something over or blow it up. (war strategy games are OK by me, but I've never been interested in the genre.) Most of my games are puzzles (Blazing Dragons), platformers (Jazz Jackrabbit, Mario, Crash Bandicoot) and racing games (Gran Turismo, NASCAR, Crash Team Racing...)

In any case I'm off the hook because I'm an adult. you darn kids
Although more violent than something like Mario, I am a big fan of the Metroid series. Although you do have a gun, the majority of the game is spent trying to solve puzzles and find your way through a giant maze of rooms.

Actually, I enjoy most of Nintendo's games. Mario (series), Zelda (series), Metroid (series), Pikmin, etc…

Oh sure. And guess what...pigs can actually fly. And over there! IT'S A RAINBOW!

All sarcasm aside, I imagine there'll be a heavy bias on the study, and it will only falsly prove THEIR worst fears...

i'm just glad i'm 17 soon, then nobody can stop me from getting M rated games. i love GTA for when i want to play a game but don't feel like thinking. but this study might prove them wrong, just like their study of illegal drugs. turns out pot cures canser or somthing, but let's not let that derail this thread.

Sure, but you still should care. If they can prevent companies from making them in the first place, you're still screwed...

Then they will put a ban on kids buying anything but tetris and solitare and life as we know it will end bringing forth an era of non video games. Then the economy will crash :P . Anyways I agree with luc these guys are just going to "convenietly" change the answers to the questions.

I think that it is rediculous. The Government and all of those psycologists are trying to use video games as an excuse as to why their children behave so poorly. When the real problem is that they are just bad at parenting. If you can't keep your kids under control you have to find something else to blame it on. Like comic books before it, video games will probably be skewed to their agenda. They will most likely go to juvenial detention centers and find out what games that those kids play, and use that as their excuse to outlaw them, not even considering all of the kids that aren't in Juvinial jail, but still play GTA.

The study will focus on the psychological effect of video games on American teenagers. It was passed at the end of last week at the same time the games press was dominated by news of the Nintendo Wii's price, release date, and multimedia functionality.

Exactly me sentiments

but also, even such a thing is possible, that you are influenced by video games then you've got to be pretty dran suggestable, in fact even iof videogames werent around a person that suggestable is still gone go and do something stupid

People that shoot places up are psyco's, it makes the parents feel better to ahve someone to blames rather than face that fact that their child was a nutjob

and also most gamers being deliquents is stupid as lets face it, the majority (but not all) of gamers tend to nerds or at least nerdish
