triple portable woes
ok I have the n64piece done hold the cart relocation
The triple consists of an n64, a SNES, and a YOBO NOAC
But my main issue now is the one of hooking up multiple controllers
My problem is kinda weird since the tact switches I am using have an open and a close switch
ie o--o when pressed and diagonal
o--o
and o o

o o
when released
I am having troule with the n64 controllers being upp up with the other system's controller IC (ie I have 3 4021's in this thing)
I want to be able to use my DIP switches to cut the controller to the external ports but that leaves me with two options
1) DIP on the 5 Leads required for the IC(this will work for the external port)
2)DIP everybutton function (I don't think this will allow for the external controller port alone)
If I do them both then well that is a lot of switches, But I want to get this done as painlessly as possible

My tact switches? Ummm, I have no idea for that delimma.
But, as far as wiring the controllers togeter, just wire evry button to corrospoding tact switch.
EX: A button
snes A-----------------------------------|
N64 A------------------------------------| all wired together to one wire, then to tact switch
Yobo(wtf is that again?) A-----------|
Tied together grounds------------------| wired to one wire then tact switch
Only one system is on at a time right?

the issue is that I have the leads ready and I don't even have the SNES or the YOBO NOAC yet
I wired the switches and the 4021 IC seems to interfer (I did not even have the controller 100% wired up
see you tacts have one sie being the switch we desire which is a open press close
However, if you wire up the switch at a 90 degree rotation it is a closed press open
I am not complaining about your switches Shocky but I think that is an industry standard
Anyone think diodes would help? if so what values/types zener rectifier and which direction?

Neat!
So yobo is noac...This portable is insane. I think you would benifit better from a laptop, but thats just me. Do you have any pics of your designes? That would help. and so would wiring diagrams. so you pretty much want the tact switch to have an open press close?Krepticor wrote:the issue is that I have the leads ready and I don't even have the SNES or the YOBO NOAC yet

What is this for? What would be blocking it?4021 IC seems to interfer

that iswhat I tought Like I said I do not even have the YOBO or the SNES
I would hook them up through that and hope that it would not interfer, howeveer, Even with just the ground connected, it interfers, I guess it is because the IC is taking the current from the n64 controller and splitting the amps even that small amopunt just causes problems
I don't know what it could be sinceG-Force has a NOAC inside his n64p so WHAT GIVES!

Alright here is a hand drawn wiring diagram for the YOBO and the SNES controllers to be connected
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/4826/scandi0.jpg
I have the n64 controller connected by running a leads off the board directly and switching to ground on the jumper pack
So please help me!

hate to bump an old topic but I have an update on th TRIPLEp
Now my thing is still the controller, I have two 4021 ICs hooke up and working (yes properlly)
and I have the n64 controller with tact switches
These things work...
Now they issue is when they are connected together...then they just don't want to behave...
However, there are a few things I have noticed...When the live button is conntecte to the n64's live button, it acts as a ground and initiates the n64's button...However the revese does not happen, in fact the SNES doesn't do anything doesn't even let me hook up the original controller...
I have also tried breaking each line on the SNES...Nothing!
now, would diodes work? or what other ideas are out there?

This a weird idea I got from a PS2 controller, have seperate little pieces with the tacts/controls mounted on them, and on the main console, there should be an indent with lots of little plugs. That way, you don't need all the controllers in at once. For controllers that don't need the plugs, drill holes anyway that don't connect...
God Bless Hot Glue
I mean make your reply a little more detailed and help me understand... (where Is Skyone's smiley when you need it!)
I think I may have an Idea though... What If I place the DIP Switches on the N64 buttons? see that way they will work wih the 4021 as a ground when activated, but I just switch em off when I don't need them
That would work, However, I want to be able to use those DIPs for the controller inputs and have the ability to place a working controller in the port...
Need more help...
