Phantasy Star Online

Post by Indigno »

Hey. Down at the local Game Crazy, they had had two Dreamcasts for a while. I am going to buy one soon, but I was wondering about Phantasy Star Online.
1) Is it pay to play?
2) Is online play even still available?
3) If it is pay to play, how much is it?

err.. I'm not sure about anything except 1); It is pay-for-online. But, Phantasy Star Universe or something just came out for ps2 and I think it has the original PSO...
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

1) When I played the Dramcast version you didn't pay as it was supported by AT&T.
2) Yes there are several indepent servers players have setup for the Dreamcast verions. Be sure when you find one to check all the information. Some are Episode 2 only so if you only have the first PSO you're out of luck.
3) Only cost it was back then was the price of the phone connection.

I can't say for sure, but it should. You can look on line, chances are good that there are tones of information on getting the Dreamcast online via dialup or broadband.

That is if you can find a server. Sega doesn't support the Dreamcast verison anymore, they haven't for over 3 years.

The Xbox version, when playing online you have to pay both the Xbox-live and the Hunter's license ($8) from Sega. So it's not really cheap.

As I've said before there are, you'll have to look though. Also please note that you may have to join a community (ie. register on a site) in order to join and connect to the server.

Update - Found this sitel its' likely a PSO community that has it's own server. I didn't check to see if they're strictly Dreamcast or if they support the GameCube version as well. Take a look and see if it's what you need.
