Heres my $0.02:
Wii:Great looking.I'm excited about the controller, and the games look awesome.I plan on getting this on launch day.
PS3:Okay looking.A few games I'm interested in, but I'll wait 'till the price goes down.Unless, of course, they rerealese FFVII on it.Then I would lie about my age so I could get a real job, and try to get it on launch.
X-box 360:For the longest time I had hardly any interest in this system, but they are FINALLY making some of my kind of games.Might spring for it if the price ever goes down far enough. 8)

I gotta say, for me (and most my friends in town and a few here, in fact). This is all a moot issue. I currently own the most expensive console of all of us, my DS Lite. None of us can afford much past 150, and much fewer past 200. I still need to get my mp3 player sometime, and I'll be damned if I buy a game console before a music player...

Quite frankly, I'd love to get the 360 over the Wii. I'm sorry, but I'm often exhausted when/if I game out after school/work. Why would I want to jump around my cramped room? I'm almost never in the mood to do that much work to have fun. I bike and play a little handball, but I work too hard right now to justify getting that console. The 360 would probably be a better option for me, plus I'm really digging the games that have come out for it. (I'm a big driver and FPS game fan, and I'm hearing pretty good things about Dead Rising)

Actually, the reason I'm not getting the Wii (or probably any of these consoles) is the same reason I often play portables, like my DS. It's easy (as opposed the the Wii) to play, cheaper ($130!! < $200 < $400 < $600?!), and available whenever I have time. It's the future man...besides, MPH kicks ass.

If I can, I figure I'll just custom build my own computer for college and enjoy the many and fun computer games out there.

Hey, every picture I see of people using it, they're out of their seat and lundging for the set. Either the Wii is bad or their marketing team is bad. It could be either...

Either way, If you were luggin drywall and buckets of plaster around all day, you'd be too exhausted to even turn the damn thing on. Sometimes I just crash in bed, get my CD player, and play MKDS till I can't see the screen. And, as I said, I still can't afford $200. Not to mention games, and a 5-10 bucks a retro game...I'll strapped in no time...:-(

I think Nintendo just got waaaaay carried away with their marketing, trying to make people look like they are having the time of their lives. Everyone whos has played it though, does always say its just small wrist movements. We'll all just have to wait and see.

And i want to rant about the processor speed. The Xbox is built on your classic x86 hardware. The Gamecube has a slower processor speed, but uses a custom ATI gpu and PPC cpu (if i remember correctly). The current gen Gamecube is at least as good graphics wise as anything you see on Xbox. Some stuff like Resident Evil 4, for example. The Twilight princess videos look spectacular also. If this stuff is doable on current Gamecube hardware, we can expect some nice stuff on the Wii also.

mhz does not equal mhz... mhz does not equal mhz... mhz- you get the point.

Oh yes. That is for sure. :D And I don't mind paying for it either. To me it is worth it. In reality it has probably cost me more than $50, because of playing demos that I would have never otherwise given a chance. Those games ended up being cool enough to warrant buying them. So I'm actually spending more money! It's a vicious cycle.

I was just merely pointing out to Triton that it had actually been stated that the browser would cost money, since he was questioning it. He didn't seem to mind though if it would cost money, which I'm sure many people won't. I agree with Triton that it will probably cost $10 or so, which may be a worthwhile price of admission to some people.

In my case, I already have something that surfs the Internet. It's called a computer.

I would imagine that Nintendo has an overzealous marketing team at work in these ads. Maybe, as others have said, you can just flick your wrist a bit to make things happen. I have also seen, however, where they talk about fishing in a gama (may have been the new Zelda game) and you actually cast the line just like you would if you were actually fishing. This says to me, a little more than a flick of the wrist.

Perhaps it's adjustable. Kind of like mouse sensitivity on a PC. We'll just have to wait until we can get our hands on one. Which I intend on doing when it comes out, because I will give it a chance. I have given pretty much every system a chance in my life with the exception of portables (I don't have a need for them personally), so I don't see why the Wii or PS3 for that matter, should be any different.

Gives us all something to chat about if nothing else. :D

About their advertising scheme: What would you expect them to do? An advertisement like this?

Look, people HAVE to stand behind nintendo, ben. If they don't, they'll never make a game again! Unlike sega, who now makes software only, Nintendo's policy is no consoles, no games. So if we don't stand behind nintendo, we'll be living in a world oversaturated with GTA clones and consoles that have graphics like "OMG, I can see the sweats on the guys's face!!1!111" with little to no innovation elseware. You can see nintendo leading the way to innovation, with their crazy control scheme, which has prompted sony to make something like that with their PS3. If you say that was not a copy-cat thing, look at the wavebird. FIRST EVER 1st PARTY WIRELESS. Now, everyone has it. Why? Because nintendo succeeeded with it and M$ and Sony finally realized that they stand to make more money selling controllers without wires to people who sit ten inches from their 1280P widescreen tv.
Then again, maybe people don't want innovation...? The 360 is the same 'awesome graphics, little else' console, but it seems to be doing well.
EDIT: Sorry, I went off on a rant on a topic I said I wouldn't join in on...
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

Nintendo isn't the first ones to do everything. They aren't the masters of innovation. As far as the wireless controller thing, I would think of that as more of a natural progression. Wireless keyboards and mice are becoming all the more popular for PC's so why not have wireless controllers for game consoles? Plus, third party companies have been making wireless controllers forever.

Also, this whole Nintendo Virtual Console sounds suspiciously like the Xbox Live Arcade.

I'm not going to get into how Microsoft, Sony, and Sega for that matter have been innovative since that's not what this topic is supposed to be about. Nintendo is innovative as well, but they don't have a monopoly on the term. I'm just sick and tired of people talking about Nintendo and their innovation like they are the only people that have new ideas. Yeesh!

How about being able to turn on the system from the controller like you can with the 360? Did Nintendo think of that too?

I'm sure it was. They do think of everything first after all. I guess the other vendors need to get a crystal ball like the one Nintendo has.
