Playstation to PC via serial port question

I'm sure this has come up before, but would that work with a dualshock 2 controller?

yep!

at leat im pretty sure the one i was using was dualshock 2 compatable (it was actually 3rd party).

also, would it work if i extracted the female connectors from a ps2? if so, what kind of wire should i use?
