ben is complaining about 60$ for a controller when an xbox 360 wireless controller costs FIFTY, oh my god the far more complex wireless two part controller costs a WHOLE 10$ more lol (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802113) i for one think the wii is definatly worth the money, its innovative, has some AWESOME launch titles (twilight princess NFS carbon etc etc) free internet (they say the opera browser might be free too!) yea the VC games are a bit pricey but oh well, nintendo might drop the price eventually no big. people are also complaining "oh the wii is so desperatly underpowered etc etc" guess what

YOU CANT PROVE THAT! you havent played one, you have only seen a few screenshots online. sure the clock speed is lower and it might have less processing power and no HDTV (mebe 480p or 720P dunno, it does do widescreen tho) but thats no big loss, i wont miss it.

so from what ive read ben judges how fun/good a game is by how it looks? tsk tsk i expected better  the old saying "you cant judge a book by its cover" applies 100% in this case. just because the nifty free game they include with the console isnt 1080P with like 10x AA and super photorealistic gfx you cant say its not fun to play!

I'm sorry, that doesn't even scream "current gen" to me. It screams FISHER PRICE PLAY SKOOL SYSTEM!

And how about SIXTY DOLLAR CONTROLLERS? Yup, $40 for an extra wand, $20 for an extra nunchuck.

Please remind me again why this is worth almost as much as an Xbox 360?

Ben, I'm shocked with you. Making biased and negative comments with limited facts on screenshots for a demo game. Even more so that you even care this much about "current gen graphics", inasmuch as I thought you were the kind who invested more in gameplay and plot. Something Nintendo ain't too shabby at.

Now I'm not convinced with the Wii myself (hell, I still giggle at the name), but I would seriously wait for one on one testing before getting that negative. Words taste aweful, and no one wants to eat their own...All I'm saying we should really wait a while to pass an serious judgement. Everyone.

Thank you, Luc! :) Being opinionated is fine; we can all form opinions on the next-gen consoles. One thing we CANNOT do, however, is be so decisive, IE "The Xbox 360 will take top console".

Man, there's gonna be some big competition once Halo 3 & Metroid Prime Corruption & Super Mario Galaxy (Which looks 4W350M3!!!) get on the shelfs! :P

Sure Halo 3 has one of the biggest FPS fan bases, but the Metroid & Mario fanbases have to at least be on a Top-10 list or something...

i hope they add some kinda multiplayer online for corruption, some say it ruined the metroid series but i kinda like hunters multiplayer, and MP2 multiplayer is just horrible to say the least

"I'm sorry, that doesn't even scream "current gen" to me. It screams FISHER PRICE PLAY SKOOL SYSTEM!"

Wii Sports was designed with simplicity in mind. Of course one game that doesn't push the system to its limits is going to look suspect.
"The Nintendo stradegy will work everywhere except in America where most people dont give things a chance."

Time may prove the quoter wrong. =)

I could care less about WiiSports, except for that boxing game that was just shown. That looks like it could be awesome fun judging from the short video ive seen. The remote and nunchuch are both motion senstive, and it looks like you get controll over both boxing gloves. I just hope its as fun as the Punchout!! series.

I will enjoy playing Bonanza bro's and other favorites all on one system, rather than lugging around a Dreamcast with a spool of CDs,,,

This reminds me, I wonder how long it will take the hackers to be able toget normal ROMs running on the Wii? (Though w/ WiiConnect24, there'll probably be great risk of the system being bricked...)

oh the wii is so desperatly underpowered etc etc" guess what

YOU CANT PROVE THAT!
The Wii's less than stellar hardware abilities are something of a given. It's been stated both that the Wii is about 3x more capable than the Gamecube, and alternatively that the Wii has about the power of an Xbox. Regardless of which one is closer, it is safe to say that Nintendo is no longer on par with current gen graphics and hardware.

Then again, if, say, a new Skies of Arcadia comes out on the Wii I'll have no choice but to buy it....once it comes way down in price.

I totally agree. And I'll also have you know that the interview at the European website explains all about why they didn't choose to compete with the graphics/speed of the other 2 systems.
You must know that:
-the Wii is smaller than 3 stacked dvd boxes (which is about 1/4 size of an Xbox)
-it doesn't always need a fan when running so it is very quite
-part of the processor speed was used for the gyroscopic effects

As Takomoto says: When people think about high speed processors they think about beautiful graphics and complex games, but they tend to forget that a processor can do other things than that.

Do the Wii games need a >put very high number here<Ghz processor? No they don't. The DS has proven to be very capable of good looking games yet the processor is nothing compared to the one inside the PSP.

And about the controllers: You can use Gamecube controllers as well. And the classic looking game pad only costs 20$.

I think the release of Wii will prove what I just said. Especially in Europe, don't forget Europe people! We play video games as well and if the PS3 is coming out 3 months after the Wii then I consider that a very important sales factor.
