how do I find out who made it? The laptop is a old Dell Inspiron 3000 notebook but I am convinced the monitor is Samsung. BUUUUTTT I need to know the heads so I can connect them to an RGB style cable for an XBOX I/O. Dell didn't make the Inspiron's monitor I think. Does anyone know a way to find out over the web?

You can't connect the xbox directly to the laptop LCD, you need to have the controller portion as well.

umm, can you explain that one alittle further in detail?

It seems like I should be able to interface it if I just knew the channels for each of the 20 (well 10 of them are ground for each channel.) into a composite video output. Can I not?

Well, the LCD's signal has to be seperated from the digital input by a controller, it takes that big digital code, and makes analog RGB input points.

The Xbox outputs an analog signal, LCD screens use a digital signal when creating the image. Without a controller card that will convert the analog signal to a digital one the LCD will not work.

What this means is that if the LCD doesn't have a controller card you can pull off the laptop or is already seperate from the laptop's motherboard you're not going to be able to use the LCD.

I will inform you that there are places like Earth LCD that will sell controller cards for some LCD screen. The chances are slim to nill, but check it out if you want.

hmmmm, I thought that kind of conversion would happen IN the monitor.

where would the card be if I had one already in the laptop?
