LCD controller board info needed

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Awesome!

Yes, they're going to send me a sample board, I just have to pay freight charges.

Hm, looks like thay want to charge me $20 for the sample as well. With EMS shipping, the total would be $45.

Luckily, I found a PSone screen on ebay for $27.55 including shipping (Media Mail, slower than anything I know, but at least it's tons more reliable than it was two years ago). It's a new seller though, and I can tell they're very inexperienced, so I'm hoping it works once it shows up here.

That sucks about the other screen board, they always get you that way.
Nice find on the PSone screen, mine was $38 shipped for the screen and a PSone, but no power adapter was included and I don't think the PSone works (still gotta test some more).

I'm pretty happy that I'm saving almost $20 though. And I don't need the PSone itself, 'cause that's not what I'm making the portable of. I think I'm gonna try making a portable out of my spare Dreamcast. I'll try getting the multiple voltages with a simple voltage divider circuit, but if that doesn't work I'll probably order some regulators.

Parcel Post is slower than media mail, isn't it? also, I hate buying off of eBay for that very reason.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

The only thing I know of that's slower than Media Mail is International Airmail.

Ya, I didn't need the PSone, but it came with it and I just recently got a PSX and some stuff so I can test it now. Good luck with your DCp, not many of those have been made.

I already decided it's not going to be thin. I don't want to have to mess with desoldering connectors and soldering on 50 or so wires to them, plus I kinda want to leave a lot of the sheilding in place. I already have the DC parts taped into a blob, I'll tape the screen on once it comes and figure out how to wire it up, then I'll tape on the batteries and get it running, and then I'll figure out what I want to do about the case.

EDIT: And of course figure out where I'm putting the controls.
