I need a few things (gamemaker help please)

First i must say this: yes my first game was basicly a 1943 clone.so i have revised my way of thinking and am currently making a sidescroller.
It is a game based off of the Halo series and being a noob in GM i could use some help-well you may wonder why i have not gone on the GM boards?

because i forgot my username and i cant get the email without entering that.

So if anyone knows anything about GM please offer soem help.

To do list as of now:

Get chief to jump
Get chief to enter vehicles by pressing "X"
Make an inventory so he can hold two guns and two guns only
make it so you can pick up guns by pressing "Z"

if i knew a site i would send a "Demo" of where i am right now...

Look... If you don't know how to do things like assign functions to keys, you really need to read some tutorials.

its not the assinging i know how to move and jump and shoot its just that i dont know how to tell the game when X is pressed that chief should go...into the...wait i think i have an idea im going to try it...

yea that worked but if hit X it would make him in the warthog...anywhere...

let me be more specific on this one i need to tell the game taht
when chief is within a certain area and i presh X he will go into the car
(i geuss i can just transform him or something)

have you read the platform example on the main gamemaker page, that tells you how to jump. the inventory, try http://forums.gamemaker.nl/index.php?showtopic=109826
just go through GM forum, especially the Frequently Asked Questions: Tutorials and Examples forum.
