ok one thing you can get a hdmi cable of the internet for 10$ 2nd sony is screwing them selves but not i dont see them finishing far behind nintendo or 360 and if you think about they could still finish 1st sony will sell out on realese and probbaly the next few and will also sell well for the first 2 years after that if that have a good price drop they keep selling im not a fanboy im personally getting a 360 but in a few years a ps3 and also there is a free version of ps3 online now stop bashing eachother systems fanboys are stupid who cares about which system is which you should get the best system for you stop aruging about such stupid crap its just video games talk about somthing kool like how the sens are gonna win the cup this year for once =p
Sandman, i actually think of myself as not a fanboy. I went from n64 to xbox and now most likely to Wii (and i have a sony PSP).
Sony is pushing for a media format that most likely won't be supported well. It happened with PSP, which is vastly superior to NDS in graphics and cpu power, but the format is unsupported and all of the good devs are focusing on NDS because it is selling better.
And just because ps3 online is free doesn't mean that it will be good, the xbox live is already a well established online service that has a free plan and a pay plan that really is pretty inexpensive, considering you also pay 35+ dollars a month on broadband/cable internet.
and no one will get a 10 dollar HDMI cable when they are shelling out 600 dollars for a system, its most likely very low quality and won't transmit the image very well.

No need to apologize. You bring up valid points. In my case I've got a P4 2GHz with 1GB of RAM which from looking at the system requirements means it could run Oblivion, but I'm sure it wouldn't be pretty. I do enjoy playing strategy games on my PC, but I've never been able to make the leap to playing Action, FPS, Racing games on the PC. I've got a 15" LCD for the PC, whereas I have a 32" Wega to play my 360 on (soon to be replaced by a 61" Samsung). Granted, I could hook the PC up to that TV, but it's just not the same for me. I've always been and, I imagine, always will be a console gamer first and foremost.totokan wrote:Ah, sorry didn't see that post. My PC screen is as large as my TV, 21". I've already invested my money into a great PC, so the PC version of oblivion runs as good (if not better) than the 360 one. Saints Row, one I forgot, a good GTA clone. Although, I'd have to say it DOES have better features. Project Gotham Racing 3: The PS3 has Grand Turismo, in 1080P or something, isn't that better? Still, good games. Jones, you're right. Of course, I'm still not buying a 360, but those are very good games I had forgotten.jones wrote:Project Gotham Racing 3totokan wrote:See, they should put dead rising on the PC. Then, I would not have to waste all this money on an underpowered PC. Name one other game that I'd get that isn't out for PC.
Saints Row
There. That's two in place of the one you requested. Plus, how much would you have to spend on a PC to get Oblivion to look and play as good as it does on a 360? Something tells me that it would be a lot more than the $300 or $400 that it would cost to put a 360 in your living room. Plus, you'd be playing this wonderful game on a screen much larger than 19".
Also, another reason I just came up with (somebody else probably already said this) The experience is different on the Wii then on my PC. The 360 has a controller, which I can use on my PC, making the console in the middle USELESS (against MY pc, that is). The Wii (which I can't judge till Nov/Oct) has a different control scheme, one I can't use in front of my PC, even if it was a PC accessory, as my PC monitor is nowhere near as far away as my TV is when I play games (Another reason my 21" monitor is better then even a 30" TV, distance). Now, if I were to take all the exclusive titles, and put them on all the consoles, the only console now worth buying is the Wii. The Ps3 (ignoring the price tag) is still just an expensive console (or, if you prefer, a cheap blu-ray player). The Xbox360 is an under-powered PC (still comparing to my PC, not a normal, stock, workstation thing). The Wii, oddly enough (not really) still has something going for it: The concept.
Once again, I apologize for a long, boring post/rant.
I think people will be surprised by how close the performance is between the PS3 and 360 when the dust settles and both systems are on the market. The PS3 doesn't have that big of an edge.
The new Gran Turismo was pretty much the only PS3 game I was interested in for the PS3, then I read last week that Gran Turismo HD as it's going to be called is going to be little more than a port of Gran Turismo 4 from the PS2 with spruced up graphics. In all likelihood there won't be a true "next-gen" Gran Turismo until 2008 at the earliest. Very disappointing. On the bright side of things though, Forza Motorsport 2 comes out for the 360 in March and will probably be a superior game as the first Forza was superior to GT4. It actually had car damage, which shockingly, the GT series has never had.
The Wii is a system I have little to no interest in, but I'm glad that many of you on this forum do. Somebody has to keep Nintendo in business. I honestly do hope that it turns out to be a good system. I've just seen nothing for it that interests me at all.
So, in closing, it sounds like you should definitely stick with the PC gaming side of things since that seems to be what suits you. For me it'll be the 360 and perhaps a PS3 sometime way down the road, but that isn't set in stone.
That is the same with me, N64 to Xbox, and if I get any of the next-gen systems it will be the Wii, because it is the cheapest and Nintendo has fun, non-violent games for my younger siblings and me. And I always wanted a Gamecube, and it can play gamecube games.Xiro wrote:Sandman, i actually think of myself as not a fanboy. I went from n64 to xbox and now most likely to Wii

Sounds like you'll definitely have a full plate come Christmas! You should be able to pick up some pretty sweet Gamecube games cheap too, which will be a nice bonus.Xiro wrote:yea if not at launch for christmas. I will most likely pick up Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, SSB:B, and get some virtual console games and possibly some gamecube games.jones wrote:Cool! Are you planning on getting it at launch? If so, what games are on your wish list?
Its too bad super mario galaxy isnt a launch game because i'm pretty pumped for that too.
EDIT: actually totokan, to clear it up PS3 was now announced to NOT support 1080p. Also, just to get it to support HD, you must buy the 600 dollar package with the HDMI port, then get a 75 dollar HDMI cable. This is all to get something that is comparable to the experience on 360.
PGR3 for 360 also has some pretty neat online modes where you can actually watch on Gotham TV (i think thats the name) the best racers in the game playing, and some other innovative features that PS3 won't have.
Lastly, the xbox 360 triggers are much better for racing and to be honest all gaying over PS3. It is about a half inch pull (i'm sure you know what i'm talking about) where the PS3 shoulder buttons use tact switches which arent pressure sensitive i believe, and even if they are pressure sensitive, it doesnt give you the same level of control as 360
The Gotham TV thing is pretty cool. It's kind of neat, because it'll tell you if you are in a Gotham TV race or not before it begins. Which is an interesting thing, because then you feel like the world is watching even if there may only be 5 or 10 people watching in reality. It was a really neat idea that was well executed for that particular game.
I do agree with you on the controller as well. That's one thing we don't really have to do a "wait and see" on with the PS3. We've been using the controller for roughly 8 years already minus the ripped off features from Nintendo and Microsoft that are on the new one. Also the PS3 controller lacks rumble which will end up being a bigger deal than people seem to currently think. It's the sort of thing you don't miss until it's not there.
Time will tell, as it does with all things.
hmm daguuy that is interesting, i took a good look at the prototypes back when e3 was buzzing and i thought they were tact, but things have changed i'm sure.
and jones, i disagree on the rumble being a big deal. It is a cool feature, but i barely used it for n64 and xbox. Being the competetive guy that i am, the rumble put off my shot in halo, for example. Each shot the controller would shake and it just screwed me up so i turned it off.
the speaker in the wii-mote is aother option that to me is cool, but not a big deal.

I agree with Jones (of course) You need a REALLY high-end PC, better than what Jones or I have, to run Oblivion well at all. The video card alone would cost near as much as a Xbox 360.
While I personally rarely get consoles withint their first couple years of release (usually about 2 years after) I would agree that were I to buy a new console it'd be an Xbox 360. You can do so many slick things for it, and it's going to get pretty much every next-gen game but Metal Gear Solid 4 (don't care) and Final Fantasy 12/13/whatever (REALLY don't care)
So as it stands the PS3 has one "ten million seller" game - FF12. While the Xbox has Halo 3, cheap GTA4 and whatever other "PS3 exclusives" seep over to its side.
I mean, 500,000 consoles at launch, and not many more for the year? These software companies might be loyal to Sony, but they answer to their stockholders first and foremost. To move titles you release for a system that's already on the market and in good supply - the Xbox 360.
I wouldn't be surprized in the least if Devil May Cry 4 becomes a 360 title as well this fall.

Theres always this myth that when a new game comes out that you need to play it at high end graphics, but really it doesnt acctually metter becuase usually only about 10% if that of buyers ever have fast enough hardware, the reason its there is so the game ages slightly better.
My computer is at leat 3 years behind the "high end" range and still runs things like oblivion half life 2 etc perfectly fine albiet on low settings. But higher graphics settings dont really change the game play that much do they

Yeah, you're right. It's higher resolution (on my pc, which is a good rig) then the 720p of the xbox one (MUCH better, my monitor is 2048*1532 or something. 720p is 1280*720) Of course, the new 1080p is better, as it's 1920*1080. This is what (more-expensive)PS3 broadcasts in, with an HDMI cable, and it still can't beat my PCExtreme_Jesus wrote:I think (but dont quote me on thisjones wrote: There. It really depends on the game being played whether or not rumble will be missed. For racing games (which I love) I think it will be a huge loss. Anyone who played Gran Turismo 4 with Logitech's Force Feedback Steering Wheel will know what I mean. In games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 for Xbox it added to the experience in subtle ways as well. Like on the Hoth level when you're in the Rebel base the controller would shake every now and then from explosions outside the base.Xiro wrote:hmm daguuy that is interesting, i took a good look at the prototypes back when e3 was buzzing and i thought they were tact, but things have changed i'm sure.

With the N64 it was something you had to buy (which I never did) and for the Xbox, PS2, etc. you had it with the controller. It was no longer optional, but merely a standard feature of the controller. Plus, I would rather have the option to turn it off (as you liked to do with Halo), rather than not have the choice at all (as will be the case with the PS3). You can't even add it later as an option.
If Sony wouldn't have been so high on themselves and just come to a settlement in the rumble technology lawsuit this would be a non-issue. Microsoft and Nintendo realized the value of the technology and worked out compromises in their respective cases.
It's not a make or break thing in terms of which system a person will buy, but it will definitely be something that I, for one, will miss.

I suspect a year before the PS3 DUAL SHOCK super pack is on the shelves for 50 bucks more, and all you get is a rumbling controller...
So is the Wii out before christmas? Because I need to find out when I have to get out my mom's basement, into the light (oh god no), and go to the store to buy it...
