Dell, how art thou forsaken me with bad DVD software!

Well...I was fixing around with my harddrive, deleting crap trial software...sigh, then when I restart it, I pop in my copy of Clerks to chill out for a bit.

"We are sorry, you have no DVD playing software installed"

Realware freezes up, and google brings me to adware, oh the sheer terror...help. :(

Thats what I use, its nice and simple. Its not like most other media players that are loaded with all the pretty stuff that slows your computer, it just plays the media.

*jumps on the VLC Media player bandwagon*

I use it for everything but music. (I hate to admit it but I use WiMP for music because of the SRS effects.) It can stream over a network (useful for the crappy old PC on my TV box), transcode and save streams and local files (great for converting media, among other uses), and it takes very little system resources by itself. The interface isn't pretty, It's actually rather "Linux-y", but it will play almost any media file under the sun without any additional software.

VLC is definitely the cadillac of media players. (note the capitalization. :P)
