Okay, here's the challenge. Instead of turning a console into a portable, how about you turn a portable into a console? Use your imagine what you could make! (I personally suggest a Game Gear or GBA console). :D Good luck!

P.S. The winner will get a supakewl uber gif to put on their signature, website, blog, or whatever.

P.P.S. A PSP console would be neato too.
PM me for DS friend codes. PLEASE!

Trust me, it's been thought of, planned out, and done before. It's a funny little idea and all, but an old one, nonetheless.

Wow this thread turned spammy fast.

Go to Portables of doom, our compnion resource site. There have been a couple "anti-portabless" before. Go here and scroll down to Reaperman's GBA Somewhat Less Portable. That's as close as it comes here.

Really, there is no point in making a handheld system into a console. You need 2 of them for multiplayer, and there are adapters out there for Game Boy (Super Game Boy for SNES) games and GBA (Game Boy Player for Gamecube) games. I think there's a unit that lets you play Game Gear games on a Sega console, and an n64 thing for GBC games.

It's not even possible to get a composite signal out of a game boy, except for the thing they made for the original GBA a few years ago. They simply do not have analog video hardware in them; everything's digital. You would have to make a board that converts the signal into composite, which is a lot harder than it sounds.

Just stick with your Super Game Boy and Game Boy Player. We're generally more interested in making consoles into handhelds.

Somebody could make a PSP a console by using one of those PSP-TV things that replace some of the PSPs circuitry (not the camera kind), and let you use a PS2 controller. Just take the screen out and all the other crap, and put it in a neato case! :D
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

And... What's the use of doing that again?

There are gameboy players that attach to the bottom of a gamecube and it hooks up to a tv. I have one of those, they're pretty cool.

No one seems to remember who, not that I'm any better, but someone, not dkap, made their GBA a console with TV output and external controlls. I'll bet gannon remembers or has the site address. But as I said, it's been done, and it isn't too "awesomez!"
