this reminds me, i need to go to EBgames and ask for an atari 2600 i have a game but no console. i also need to bring my N64p, that'd be sweet. too bad they don't sell damaged consoles. one time i went there and asked if i could get a broken XBOX but they said no

Why don't they? They could just sell it as-is and not have any kind of warranty. Do they buy busted systems and then waste money and not sell them?

Yeah, this does have to be the dumbest thing about GameStop ever. One time there was a PSOne and a screen, but the PSOne's disc lid was cracked; they wouldn't sell it to me. But no, they don't just trash it; they send all their broken/defective units to corporate office where they repair them and send them back, or put them in their big warehouse in Texas for online sales.

I go to Game Crazy as there aren't any gamestops near my house, but there are still some stories I have:

Once a bum walked in and started talking to the clerks about how cool New Super Mario Bros and thw Wii are.

Another time I came in the get a reserved N64 and some games, the trainee who was on the job dropped the N64 when I called it up and sold off my reserved Super Mario 64 earlier that day.

Hmm, I went to a Gamecrazy, frequently, but all of it is coincidence, Birthdays, trades, sales! I've spent only 67 bucks there, but I frequent it soo much, and I go with my brother (little) which triggers my mom, and since my mom seems so 'controlled' I think, they think I'm spoiled. But atleast I got a free Genesis game when I showed them my Gennyp.

At a Gamestop, ah, I had a similar experience like Ben's. Apparently there was one store that sold a PSONE at 35, and that was 10 miles away, so I take the subway there (I have gotten privileges ). He's like: "Hey dude/guy, y don't you just buy a PS2, it's awesome with Nano Bot Technology"...my response: "If Sony put Nano bots in it, I think there is no need for a PS2 and 5/4"...and then he questions my purchase of a 'retro' system. I rebuit with the: It was released 5 years ago, and then say I'm working on my PSONEp. He says, dood, how about the PSP...it's awesomezorz. Then I hold up the PSONE controller that came with and freely hit the R2/L2 buttons with my middle fingers! He didn't notice it. Then I overviewed the possibility and how I can solder/rewire up the game controller, bondo up the case, and the magical 7.2 Volt battery. He says bolgona, and I bid him aideu, hoping never to tread 10 miles to go back...there.

Well, my local Gamestop tried to sell me a Wii, PS3, 360, PSP and DS, all at different times while I was there.

They wouldn't sell me a PSone because it had stickers on it. STICKERS! I went to the one in the mall *shudder* instead.

One time I grabbed a couple PSone games and a Monty Python DVD there. It all rang up to 50 bucks. I told the person behind the counter about the mistake (two $5 games and a $10 DVD does not equal $50), and he started ringing up a 360 reserve form or something of that kind. I just left everything on the counter and left. Stupid kid.

demonofaj, when you finish your portable, bring it there and show it to them. With luck that same guy will still be there...

In short, clerks at Gamestop, Radio Shack, and similar stores have no clue about anything but the latest and "greatest" games, and even then it's what they read in the game magazines they read, sneeze in, then put back on the shelves. The only reason I'd work there is to get access to the dumpster and all the "broken" stuff they throw away.

I dislike these stores (ebgames, gamestop, the like) because of the lack of good service. If you wish to fix the problem, you're better off getting a job there and with a little luck (and some hard work) you'll end up their superior, thus giving you the ability to push them around, or, you could possibly teach them how to do their jobs (which they seem to be doing well, forcing you into 360 purchases, ringing up stuff way to much "accidentally" ) better.

I spent about an hour browsing through all the games in the store (as usual), & then decided to get MKDS. I asked him how much the game would be after tax, & it turns out I was ~90 cents short! He conveniently dropped a dollar on the floor & said "There's a dollar on the floor if you want it...". *13374g3*

The people at the funcoland near me are all pretty not stupid, i actually got into a talk about some classic RPGs with one of them. The only thing that kinda confuses me is when i went up there to play some games on my N64p he just kinda looked at me like somebody came in there and did the same thing an hour ago. Didnt say anything or give me any weird looks, he just sat there as me and my friend played mortal combat.

My story for that is: One time, I went to gamestop, and I was going to buy nintendogs for my gf. He asked me why. I told him I was going to buy nintendogs for her. He told me he did that too. Then this fat girl walks in and says to him, "Hey baby!" Where's the :WTF: when you need it? He gave me an extra doller on my trade in next time I saw him, and told me not to tell anyone. Hell, I hope he's not on the forums.

the reason they don't sell anything broken an on the cheap is because they have a corporate repair facility, when someone actually turns in a broken unit they take a deduction on their already low buy-back price to cover the repairs, this is how they really make their money

as for service I have an EBGames around me that is actually staffed with die-hard gamers who like their job somewhat and I am friends with all the workers and they know If I am there I might talk to them and help relieve the stress of their work-day

Also, don't smack talk their buy-back on older stuff, they don't take anything older now since they cannot cut a large profit margin for it, since they cannot profit well, they won't bother taking things in, what little bit of stockthey have left is left-overs from their corporate stockhouses

Non-corporate game stores (and Some Rhinos) are your best bet on older stuff since they take anything (another thing about EB games/Gamestop is that they have a strict buy-back policy and they charge extra for sctratches, which they send off to the corporate repair facility to be re-surfaced)

So, don't complain, just buy your older crap at Goodwills/Thrift Stores and flea- markets (and the ocassional eBay Bargain)

I imagine at least 16 however it would be difficult to get a job without any experience. I know 15 year olds can be life guards and maybe bus tables.
