Sorry to say, but smilies have to be on the server and must be uploaded either by an http control panel or ftp. It'd be nice if we could though :'(

There seems to be some confusion about what people can and can't do. Each rank can do everything the rank above it can.

Guests (the average joe schmoe who comes in, reads and leaves):
-Read the forums

Users (you, unless you're a mod or admin):
- Post in existing threads
- Create new threads

Moderators (Me, Luc, Triton, Skyone, Marshall and the rest):
- Delete posts and threads
- Create stickies and announcements
- See IP addresses
- Lock threads
- Create Polls
- Split threads

Note that with our mini-mod system, the moderators can only moderate the forums they're assigned to. For example, I'm a Tech Q&A mod, but not a Playstation mod. In the PSX forum I have user privelages.

Forum administrator (Sparkfist & gannon):
- Moderator power in all forums
- Create forums
- Basically anything forum related that doesn't require FTP access to the server

This might change next time we update phpbb, if Ben is persuaded to set up a subdomain (maybe forums.benheck...). That would be nice... *hint hint*

Site administrator (Ben):
- Anything he darn well pleases

You know the titles/lables that are under some member's names and above the avatar? Well that's what I mean. I'm still getting around to doing what (I think) needs to be done, giving the Moderators their titles. I'll be also giving other people some, but I wont elaberate on that now.

ShockSlayer, thanks for the heads up. I got all the new ones, now I need to clear out all those that have posted already now.

Congrats on the promotion, Sparkfist! It's well deserved (and needed). Cleaning up the forums is a daunting task, it's nice to know they picked the right man for the job.
