Whats the best method of removing rust off a car door. I know of the wirebrush, Vinegar, CLR and Coke, but what is the best way to remove rust.
I need to get the rust off the drivers door on my 1984 Oldsmobile (30 years younger than Tritons olds).

I would wirebrush as much of it as you could. Then use the other methods next. Start with the cheapest and for every failed attemp move up to the next expensive one until one works.
It's hard to say, because what works for some may not owrk at all for others. Good luck.

Use a round wire brush on a power drill. If there are any holes, cut them out and weld in a steel patch panel. Take some sandpaper and rough up the surrounding paint. Now smooth it all out with Bondo. Spray paint the area first with Rustoleum primer, then Dupli-Color car paint that matches the car.
You definitely want to patch any holes with real metal, not just Bondo. (Unless you don't paint the bondo and go all-out for the "beater" look.
)
Post some pics! 80's Oldsmobiles are awesome! (We've had an '80 Omega, an '83 Omega, and an '87 Calais at one time or another)

I would just cut it out and weild a new peice on but in case you don't have those supplies like I do. The best way is a wire brush and clean it real good and then sdray some oil on it to help keep it from rusting more. Then bondo her up and paint it.
Which I should take care of the 2 holes in my 81 Chevette. In case you don't know what a Chevette is I'll tell you, It is a crose between a Corvette and an economy car, meaning it is small and so is the engine but it is rear wheel drive and has a 4-speed with 2 doors. The best feature about it is the door panels, they are carboard. no joke
