Playstation Gone KA-BOOM need help

i was looking at some of Ben's portables the other week and thought "Hey I could do that!" so i got together with a freind and bought a Playstation 1 to portableize, when we opend it up and looked on the back of the mother board we noticed someone has installed a modchip however this was not effecting how the games ran so left it there.

after this we hooked it all together on a table out of its case just to see if our tampering had killed it and it hadnt we were well chuffed cos every other time we had ripped somthing apart it had broken... Then something bad happend... we were playing on Xevious and then half the screen dissapeered! then came back we thought this weird but continued playing then some areas of the graphics went all pixelated (they looked abit like Missingno on Pokemon red and blue) after this we decided to quit the game and turn it off but as we were quiting the PS1 cut out and all was black...

a few hours later we tryed booting it again, nothing but a quick white line when we turned it on or off.
the machine hasnt booted proply since...

can i have some suggestions on what might be wrong? i can answer questions if you need more info or if i didnt explain something very well

Did you try pluging the thing into a normal TV screen? if there was too much power you could have possibly fried the screen.

Maybe the mod chip got disconnected somewhere, and that's causing the problem.
