Funny things that happened to you at GameStop
Has anything funny happened to you at Gamestop or something like it? Here are some of my experiences:
When the DS lite came out, I obviously had to have it the day it came out. So I gathered up my DS and it's box and went to Gamestop. When we got there, the guy told us that because that day was special, the DS was worth 10 dollars more than normal. So he would give me 60 instead of 50. So I give him the DS only for him to tell me that he couldn't except it because the charger was missing! So I drive all the way home to get the charger. Before giving him the DS, I take out the stylus. It was blue. I wanted to keep it to remember my good old DS. But NO he needed the stylus too. Oh well.
One time, I called Gamestop asking them if they had any NES's and the guy literally laughed at me.
I went to this store in the mall... I forget the name. It was like Gamestop though. I bought Super Mario Bros. for the GBA. You know, that NES series. So I walk out, pop it in my DS lite and start playing. BTW, that game SUCKED. Not for the NES, but for the GBA IT SUCKED. It was WAY slower than the regular game and Mario didn't jump high at all. (You know those pipes in the first level? I can usually jump from one pipe to the next, but in the GBA version, I couldn't.) So five minutes later (I am not even kidding) I come back and ask to return it. I say that it's running much slower than it should. The guy tells me that's how it normally is because it's old. FYI, I play that game A LOT. So I get a refund and get Namco Museum for GBA. That's a cool game!
Okay, one more! My old DS had a really cool skin of the inside of it that made it look like the top was missing. I sold it with the skin on it. Today, my friend just got a brand new DS. (Not a lite. Don't ask why) While he was there he saw my DS on the shelf! He was going to buy that one but someone else bought it. Wouldn't that be so weird to buy something that belonged to someone you know?
So has any weird things happened to you at a game store? Post your stories!

If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.
Yeah, something weird happened to me. I barely ever go into gamestop or the like. But one day I walked in and... *GASP* it's... to horrid... to.. describe... THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY NES GAMES!!!! Ever since then, I haven't seen a single NES game in gamestop or the like... what are things coming to when a used game store doesn't sell used games?!?
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.
I went to buy an Xbox to mod like a few years ago, I asked if they had any below a certain manufacture date. They asked why? I said I didn't want an Xcalibur video encoder, as it didn't like Linux (at the time). They said cool, and I went to a different store.
The different store, namely FUNCOLAND, I got the EXACT Xbox I was looking for, it was a v1.1 with a Samsung.

Yes, actually! Once, I brought my SNESp MKII in there. The guy nearly crap himself when he saw that it was a SNES! He thought it was even more insane when I told him I was playing Chrono Trigger. I told him I built all sorts of stuff, PSOne, NES, etc. Although when I told him that my next project (or Skyler's, to be exact) was a PSTwoP, he laughed and said that he'd give me a free copy of FFXII if I came with it to the midnight premire.
But the folks at GS kinda piss me off sometimes, too; like when they won't sell you defective units. It's so dumb! There was a PSOne that had a cracked lid, and they wouldn't even put it on the shelf. I was so mad. I drove all the way out there to get it, and then they tell me that it was not for sale. I CALLED AHEAD OF TIME!!!!!!!! Oh well.

I once went into an EBGames and asked if they had any Dreamcast stuff, and the guy says: "Of course we don't carry anything that old!" I then sidesteped over to the FULL SHELF of Playststion, N64, and 16 year old GBoy games!

Well, there used to be a place in my old home town called Game Force that sold and bought everything old and new, and it went out of business and I almost cried.
Anyways, me and my friends walked up to the GameStop. We have nothing to do, so we were just hanging out in there, playing the demos and chatting with the clerks. My friend asks if he could get a job there, and they said he had to be sixteen... But, they had some promo stuff that they couldn't sell and if we cleaned the place up then they would give it to us.
Well, this stuff was all for the Xbox, or it was the big stand up signs for games that I have never played or heard of, and I asked the guy if he could cut me a discount on a used Xbox and he said he would let one go for $50 (last summer, that was a good deal). It turned out that cleaning the place up also consisted of organizing all of the games, and we spent a couple of hours there, but hey, I was getting a good deal. So at the end of the day, they bring out all of this neat promo stuff that would have been neat for anyone with an Xbox, and then the guy comes out and hands me a cardboard box with a sharpied "X" on top of it. The other guys there were being kind of cold to the guy who did this but didn't say anything.
Of course, I wrote in because I was pissed and didn't get anything for my hard work. And even worse, my friends were all calling me a prick for doing so because they had gotten their free stuff and in their eyes I was biting the hand that feeds (everyone but me).
A year later, a few weeks ago, I head up there on my own to buy the New Super Mario Bros. game for my DS when the clerks are sitting behind the counter talking. I was browsing through the PS1 and N64 stuff that was being liquidated and they started talking about this guy who was coming in to the store, harrassing costumers and kept begging to be re hired. They described him to be the same guy who ripped me off who was fired by me writing in. At this point I hurredly bought my game and left the store.

I know some one that found 4 NES's, 25 copies of mario/duckhunt and about 50 other games (NES) behind the EB games garbage.

About two years ago I had to do a job shadow for school (basically follow the person and help them out on the job.)
So the manager at ebgames excepts. I got to inside the store an hour before it opened hang out, help set stuff up. When I left they gave me bag of free stuff, Including a punisher shirt that I still wear today.
Over the summer Ebgames was holding tournaments. I went in wearing my official Fatal Fury hat (the one Terry Bogard wears). I Pwned every one there at The King Of Fighter 2000.
I become champ and get loads of free stuff.
OKAY!

I remember the time I brought my NESp into radioshack because I needed a DC adapter. (Your allowed to bring in the electronics to test if it works) So I bring it in and get a DC adaptor and ask one of the guys if I could test it and he's like yeah sure. I turn it on and when he saw contra on the screen he nearly crapped his pants. Everyone passed it around playing Contra. It was pretty funny. Then one guy was like at home I have a blinking NES and none of the games work. In fact, I have 3 of them. So I tell him he has a dirty cartridge connector and the guy gave me his number in case he needed help. That was creepy

Well my used Xbox from EBX had a music cd in it from some band I've never heard of called "If I had Eyes". I hadn't even thought about it since when I first got it, I think I'll dig it up and (literally) blow the dust off to see what the heck these guys sound like!
