exactly! i thnk the fiero kicks ass and all the people i talk to about em say its a flaming deathtrap, its really exxagerated and kinda sad, i might buy a fiero sometime in the future, a pretty rough one not far from me i could probably pick up for 600 or less

please keep in mind most older cars, iron duke 4 cylinders and large v8s as example, redline at less than 6 thousand rpms, iron dukes redline at less than 5000, that would be VERY bad to do in anything less than a preformance car

Of course. My car is a 1.2l 4 cylinder 16v. It redlines at 7k and the insturction manual states that "it is acceptable to stray into the red area but only for a few seconds". I think the rev limiter is at 7500rpm.

Wow, our '94 Ford F-350 4-door, long bed, automatic, with a 7.5l V8 gets 10-12 MPG. And the engine is twice as big!
Ask your dad, he would know what he could fix (maybe he knows more about one brand or something).
I'm most likely getting a free '75 (or there abouts) Ford Mustang II from my grandparents, with a 2.3l 4 cylinder that puts out a whopping 88hp. But the engine will likely be replaced with a turbocharged 2.3l 4 cylinder from a newer mustang or thunderbird (those go up to 205hp and would still get good milage).

well my car is a 5.7l v8 and you can rev that mofo till it blows if you want, i think it probably redlines at around 6 grand. 350 smallblocks are damn near indestructable, like that episode of mythbusters with the v8 engine, kept goin with no water, allkinds of crap in the fuel etc. also our 95 gmc jimmy got 17-22 mpg

trust me mercury cars are basically rolling toilets but the '92 may be worth it depending on how many miles are on it, the truck, eh, I wouldn't advise it. I grew up in a salvage yard/body shop/ mechanic shop, my advice is to look around for something like a chevy metro or even something like a toyota anything, just something with a 4 cyl in it, those things last forever and can be pushed as far as 300 thousand miles if cared for properly

I'm getting a job now so I can get a car for next year (University). I'm planning on getting a relatively new (5-7 years old) mustang.

Don't you all just love mustangs?

Get one from before 1985, they are faster than the newer ones because the Cadilydic converters rob a cars HorsePower

Naw. I don't like the middle-aged ones. Now the 1970-ish ones are amazing. Fastbacks

But I won't be able to afford one of those. I plan on having around $12000 if I don't spend a penny. And the catalytic converters remove many, MANY toxins from the exhaust.

and all that lovely smog controll (EGR, catlytic converter etc etc) remove MANY horsepower from your engine! seriously, the catlyitic converter can rob you of as much as 10-15hp, EGR 5-10 other smog controll contributes too, narrow throat carbs etc, restricted exhaust and intake and putting hot exhaust gases back into the motor = less power, my car has none of that crap! 350 chevy smallblock circa 1969

Personally, I don't care about having a whole lot of horsepower. I'm planning on getting a V6, and there's no place I could (legally

) go over 100 km/h. Besides, I could always take the C converter out if I pleased, but todays mustangs still have 210hp (V6), and 300hp (V8).
