Oh, and to throw my 2 cents in, I won't be buying a PS3 or Wii at launch. I probably got that across in the podcast, but it never hurts to clarify.

PS3 = Too damn expensive. Sony's "cheap" Blu-Ray player talk isn't flying with me. Thanks, but no thanks.

Wii - Just don't see any value in it. No games I care about. I'm glad that some people are jazzed about this thing, but it just isn't happening for me. The only way I can see one of these in my house is if the Harvest Moon game they're making for it ends up on my wife's wishlist (Another Wonderful Life is pretty much the reason why we have a Gamecube. She plays it all the time!).

The one and only!

Actually there's a lot of competition for that name in the phone book I've noticed...

But anyway. Yes it is I, he who along with Ben would risk public crucifixion in order to express our views of the Wii...

It was, and is, a good time. I look forward to more discussion of the Wii and PS3 as their respective launch dates draw near.

In all honesty I don't root for any system to win. It's in our (the gamers) best interests for all of them succeed. Competition can only be a good thing in this case. Sony may finally be coming to grips with the fact that they can't rest on their laurels anymore.

Now they have to deliver, but can they?

I probably went a little off topic. For that I apologize.

In the end I think most people will choose one system and buy games and accessories for it at launch or thereabouts. Then, once the companies start lowering their prices, those same people may go out and buy a second system.

I just can't see people buying 2 systems at once. I make a decent living and I couldn't stomach that much money being coughed up on gaming systems at once! Roughly $600 for the 360 after buying the system and intangibles was tough to swallow.

Anyway, I digress... Happy gaming and shopping to one and all.

That is a good idea, if its like the 360 you'll make at least 2-3 times what it cost.
I likely won't be getting any of the next-gen systems, I'm too poor and my dad sees games as a waste, so no help from my parents.

Well, Jones, Ben, being a strong proponent of the Wii, I still found your podcast informitive and might incline me more towards a 360, although the Wii is still top up there.

Well I think we all know where you stand, Jason. ;)

I think the PS3, 360 and Wii are ALL complete products. It's really just a matter of opinion on which console YOU like, not which you don't like.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the podcast! Hopefully any future ones we will do will continue to be entertaining and informative. I already have quite a few ideas for future episodes. Ben and I will have to sort that out though.

I respect the fact that you stand by the Wii and that you are open to the other options. Most people that are really into videogames (like all of us are) end up buying multiple systems anyway. I bought an Xbox a week or so after launch, then a PS2 a couple years later, and then finally I got not one, but TWO!!! Gamecubes this past Christmas. One of those is being converted into a portable by Ben in what little free time he has. :)

Then I got a 360 a few months ago and I'm sure that as the years go by a PS3 and eventually even a Wii will end up in my arsenal.

By the way, if you do got the Wii60  route look me up on Xbox live.

Later,

Yes, I have shown my true colors.

I am a dreaded Microsoft fan and I'm an IT guy on top of it all. I think armageddon may finally be upon us!

That said, I respect the fact that everybody arrives at a decision on a gaming console from different walks of life. I also, couldn't agree with you more that it's more about what you like then don't like. It's just that in the online community people seem to like to attack whatever it is that rivals what they are in favor of. I suppose this is only natural though.

I hope the Wii proves me wrong (hopefully after at least a year or so when the price drops :) ), but I'm not optimistic. Likewise, I hope it is the system those of you who are anxiously awaiting it's release want it to be.

That said... Go buy a 360 already would ya?

With the wii continuing to be slow on the draw (controller revealed late, design revealed late, release date not yet, price not yet), I doubt that it matters if I get it on release, as they will have redesigned something and gotten rid of all the useless components they would have. Also, with nintendo, it's better to get it early. The gamecube LOST features throughout its lifespan.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

I know Nintendo Power said that Twilight Princess would be released with the release of the Wii, and TP, I beleve, is set for sometime in November.

My brother and I each put down $125 for the Wii ($250 total for the math chalenged), but I'm putting down $200 for games or extra controller stuff (if needed). Totally gonna get it on release date, and play TP for an unhealthy amount of time.

I'll tape a note to the door that says to take the Wii with me to the hospital after I pass out on the floor.
