N64 to moniter directly?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

N64 to moniter directly?

Post by ShockSlayer »

Ok, Is there a cable I can buy to hook up my n64 to my IBM moniter thing? Or do I have to make my own and mod my n64.

Basicly I want to plug my n64 into a computer monitor directly.

I guess you could send the rgb signals to the spots on the scart connector where the rgb signals were on the SNES, then take a rgb cord for the SNES, then hook it up to a vga cable with the right pinouts. =D

>_> It is so easy. Just rgb mod it as found in the sticky in the screens forum. Take a SNES rgb cord. Cut it, take the wires for r, g, b, and sync, and put them on the r, g, b, and sync wires on the VGA cord. >.<

If I'm not mistaken, that has the potential to blow your monitor. There's something else you need to do. I don't remember what. Just..look into it first.

Yes it does output rgb, you have to get it off the Chroma Encoder.

Wikipedia, "television" wrote:The frame rate or refresh rate of a typical NTSC format CRT TV is 60 Hz
Wikipedia, "video" wrote:NTSC (USA, Canada, Japan, etc.) specifies 29.97 fps. Film is shot at the slower frame rate of 24fps.
I'm confused, why is the NTSC CRT refresh rate double the NTSC refresh rate? So are LCD's refresh rate 29.97?

The wiki is right about 60hz because pal is at 50hz

LCDs do not have a refresh rate of in the sense of a tube TV they work differently and therefore this explains why a lightgun doesn't work on an LCD TV

Yeah, that's the thing I was referring to. I don't really know much about it. But what I do know is that if you don't somehow get the signal to 15khz, you really risk blowing your monitor.
