There are a lot of neat portable concepts here.
Also, gannon's concept art is pretty neat, not to mention small. You may want to ask him before using it, though.

As for the actual project, if you truly are a "n00b" as you say, might I suggest trying an easier console to gain portablization skills? N64 is tough as it is, but making it super small is even more difficult. But whatever you end up doing, good luck! :P

EDIT: Sorry, but G-Force's N64p has taken a turn for the worse.

oh and i was wondering about the n64 ique cant you make that portable?
it would be a lot easier than haviang an 10 inch portable. the ique would be perfect its small its cool and not to mention freakin sweet that thing would be a godsend for n64 portablizers not to mention me

there are a lot of designs and pictures of insides of portables posted here. usually we tell people to just search for them.

one pace to start is the wiki. even though it is far from complete *cough*, the N64 section is quite impressive:

heres some pictures of the inside of my (unfinished) portable, which happens to be pretty small:

the rest of the finished portables can be seen in the first sticky. along with many diagrams and concepts.

So learn Chinese, download the n64 games to the flash card, wire up the av input into the screen, get some batteries and a cool case and bam you're done!

If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.
