Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Please read the stickies. In the portable screen hacking forum, the first post indicates what to do.

You connect +5V to pin 12 (I think), and it'll turn on. Also, if you decide to use RGB video, you need to connect those anyways.

Sounds like a power supply problem. Care to share any more info on your setup?

How much voltage are you sending in?

Also, how many resistors did you put in when you did the LED mod? The book says 1, but I'd throw in an extra if I were you. I only used one at first, and it worked....for a while. Then, the resistor fried. I'd double up on 10-ohm resistors just to be safe!

CronoTriggerfan, I always use this site to calculate what resistor I need. That way, there's no guess-work:

Yeah I was going to use 10ohm on mine and had the same issue. So I switched to a 27ohm(think it was 27) and it was perfect.
SNESp - 100%
Protable X - 15% - I need money :(

Yeah, I just doubled up on 10ohm resistors, but I know for sure 22ohms also works. If 27 is good too, I'll have to use that from now on; they're more commonly available at RadioShack than the 22ohm ones. Oddly enough, this still isn't cited as an "error" in Ben's book; I wonder how his runs without more resistance... :?

And Joe, that's a sweet site! I'll have to use that more often!

For 4, I used a 27 ohm resistor. Although my LED's were dark, so I now have to install 2 more. I think a 27 ohm resistor will still be fine.

@ CTF:

LED's can run with no resistance, but they'll wear out faster. Ben uses a 10 ohm, which will slow down the process, but not to the extent a 2x resistor can.
