When I clicked on this link I was hoping to see some links, pictures, screenshots or something just to prove that a DS can emulate a nintendo 64. In the end I didn't get what I wanted, you don't see me making a big hissy fit over the pics ( heh...hissy fit), do you?

In fact, to be truthful, Shockslayer you expected some doubters to turn up and fill this thread with doubts. So don't complain! What's the point in complaining if you knew you were gonna get some doubts? It's nice to see that you're trying your best to ignore the doubts, but listen to them for once, you might actually learn something! You're focusing so much on the doubts, and the doubts are the only thing you're noticing!

About that lie-ing problem, if you lie it doesn't affect you now since you're only 14, however when you're older you'll realise that if you lie all the time you won't be able to communicate that well to work colleagues, family, friends and other people. But I don't know whether you're lying or not.
atari2600a wrote:(though there's be no point in emulating SM64 since the game has been REALLY cleaned up & revamped in SM64DS...)
Hold on a minute, why were you trying to hide this from us and put it in font size 7? If you've got something to say then you might as well say it in front of us, otherwise MOM's the word. I'm not sure about everyone else but I like playing classic games that haven't been modified (Such as Super Mario 64), That's the reason why people don't like emulators that much, good ol' unmodified classic games bring back so much memories.

Can I ask everyone to calm down for the moment and then sort it out? 8)

I think the DS certainly has some emulating ability's though the Nintendo 64 seems a bit thougher than the usual console to emulate. Some pc's which are far above the 62,5Mhz clockspeed of the N64 can't even fluidly run a N64 game. I couldn't even play OoT in full screen on my 1.33Ghz AMD. You'd have to code it perfectly to even try to run Mario 64 on a DS.

The DS would also have extreme problems trying to load all the textures in newer games, especially ones that use the expansion pack. If you don't know what I mean, try playing Perfect Dark. It's full of textures that are at least 2x the resolution of the highest possible on a DS. I for one, hope you can pull it off though.

You saying you can't store the ROMs elsewere?

SS, you promised me pictures quite a few times, and you just said that it didn't run at full speed when in the other thread, you did. I don't think I can trust that at any point did you emulated N64 on the DS.

Plus, I don't think this deserves a topic, for it is only whoring attention towards the fact that you were lying about almost everything you stated. If I had mod powers right now, I'd lock this thread.

Xiro wrote:Its a complete improbability based on the specifications of the Nintendo DS. PSP can run close to native emulation of the N64 with a 333 MHz CPU. The DS is not remotely the same hardware as the N64 and only (if i'm not mistaken) 64MHz. The DS can barely emulate SNES full speed.

If someone like stmrnnrmn thought that it was a probability i would back him 100% on trying to get it done. But shockslayer, you are a 14 year old compulsive liar who may or may not have even made a SNESp. You have no priar programming experience and dont know the first bit about programming an emulator, and i doubt if given source code to an emulator, you could even recompile it into a eboot (or whatever format the DS uses).
Man, nice to know that some sane person was still around when I was not.
ShockSlayer wrote:See? Doubters. And Xiro is justs as bad to me as sam fisher. But who cares about him  Well, this could be my progresss thread too, but whatever. I turned the whole project over to april. It's more fun to code for snes, since I can do it on the go. And besides, She doesn't like it when I borrow her pimped nds cart

Ahhahaha. I'm back. One more warning and I am permentently banned. I think anyway. You have no idea how anything works. Anyone with the tiniest bit of insight into computer science, or emulation in general knows you are a 14 year old who is trying to sound cool.

The only real place to store it is in the GBA's flash card's SRAM. Basically this emulator will only work if you have a flashcard or Supercard. It won't work if you use the GBA Movie Player, it has no SRAM.

Now the bigger question is how is going to do the C-pad and Z buttons? There is a physical lack of those buttons.

So let's think. If it were possible to emulate N64 on the DS wouldn't we of seen Ocarina of Time, or any other N64 game being sold on shelves by Nintendo?

Here's a thread on GBADEV that says it will never happen.
More proof?

Also, I'm sure loopy (who did the SNES GBA emulator) or someone way more experianced would of already did this.

er... vb_master, there's such a thing as a FLASH CART. I have a 1 gigabit one, that's 128 megabytes. That's a lot more then the '4' you propose are needed. Also, the MK2 I use it with accepts SD cards. With an SD card, I can have up to 4 gb of space! Where's your logic from? Also, I mean no disrespect, SS, but you've previously stated that you got SM64 to run at full speed, but now you're saying you haven't. Here in the US, you're innocent until proven guilty. You've already proven yourself guilty.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

yah, well the SRAM of my cart is also larger then the 4mb he implys is needed.

Basically, unless he is using dynamic loading to buffer the rom into and out of ram, then its not possible. If it is. Then you get the fun of it stopping and saying 'loading...' every several seconds, assuming this emulator is real.

Here's a better question guys. Are the ARM7 and ARM9 processors 32bit or 64bit. Reason(s) I'm asking are that if your'e trying to run 64bit code form the EmotionEngine (N64) on a 32bit CPU that isn't even twice as fast there is no way you could get close to full speed, the other reason is I just couldn't find if the ARM were 32 or 64.

And even if the chips are 64 they're not going to run code that isn't writen for them very fast even if put through an emulator. You'll still have trouble gettting full speed out of the game unless you have 3x the processor speed of the chip you're emulating.

Lets face it, emulation is a dirty way to get a game to run. And thus explains Ben's pervers analogy.

err.. Krepticor... A ds is not equal to a 64. It is, if anything, weaker.
Other way around ~_~ The DS is marginally more capable than the N64 in the graphics and sound department. According to wikipedia, the N64 is capable of a theoretical maximum of 100,000 rendered polygons (triangles) per second, while the DS is capable of 120,000.

Of course, it still doesn't have the muscle for N64 emulation.

The emulation needs a good CPU aswell though.

I know, that's not all SRAM.

Emulating SNES is much more feasible, the roms are 512KB - 3MB, which fits in the DS's RAM fine.

OK, I'm not saying you're lying SS, but I really can't see this as plausible. About the S64DS thing, there's an explanation for that. Nintendo coded themselves that one game, not code an entire new system. SS, you do know the road to emulation? I tried to make an NES emulator, and I failed miserably...even though it's the simplest of them all. I'm not saying I don't believe you, although I want to...but just know the challenges...it's not just write 010101010 in one line and keep on doing that, and converting all that code to be applicable on ARM7 and 9 processors, then a source to keep it on, and then flashing the bios to make said code applicable. Well, good luck, is all I can say.

Lets do it this way. If I were to say I wasn't doing this, I am doing snes, and that I have friends who all know what they are doing(more than me) would you pester them instead of me? I can't tell you much more, other than backgrounds on everyone.

Me (ShockSlayer)
Age: 15
Coding skills: Quite a bit
Previous work: SnezziDS

April (Neighbor)
Age: 15
Coding skills: Quite a large amount
Previous work: Some pc gamecube emu, GCP

Tyler (School friend)
Age: 16
Coding skills: Almost as much as eric's
Previous work: Helped april with gc emu, GCP

Eric (School friend)
Age: 15
Coding skills: A large amount
Previous work: I don't know, never asked, but he's the one who gave me a snesp and then helped me make another one.

Jason (Neighbor, godfather)
Age: 36
Coding skills: COLLEGE PROFESSIONAL
Previous work: Something for DS, he is my definition of retro. NESP, SNESP, GENESISP, N64P, PS2P

Now all of you go take a bath in hell. Pics will be up when I find time from school, my gcp, n64p, snesp 2.0 revision, homework, making you guys shut the **** up, and X-P.
