whats your worst ever SURGERY/INJURY or SICKNESS
Moderator: Moderators
I was born with a cataract in my right eye. When I was one or so I had a surgery which I believe is called Introocular surgury where they basically replace my lens with an artificial one. I'm not sure if that's the right one, I just wikipedia'd it and found the one closest to the description I know.
While it saved my right eye, My brain has pretty much cut off the signal from my eye due to lack of use. It also wandered when I went for long periods of time without patching it.
Neat after-affect, though, is that the eye color of my right eye was for some reason changed from blue to brown, so I now have different colored eyes.
I also recently had surgery to fix my lazy eye. It used to drift off the the side, and it didn't bug me, but people would get annoyed with me because they thought I was either looking away from them when they were talking or I was just that dazed out. I had it fixed with a procedure where they basically pop out my eye, and slice and dice up some of the muscles that aren't pulling enough so there is more tention and stick it back in. Unlike my other surgery, I was old enough to remember it, and it hurt like Hell, and my eye oozed blood and tears for a week.
Also, about 3 years ago, I woke up and I couldn't move my knee. If I did, it would hurt like crazy. My parents wouldn't come in to help because they though I was faking (We were going to church that morning), so I ended up dragging myself into their room where I convinced them to look at it, and they realised that it was all swollen up and they took me to the Hospital. The doctor said it was some really long disease that was named after three polish guys which was basicaly just my cartilige not growning at the same rate as my bone or something and the bone was scraping. I ended up in crutches and a leg wrap for the week.
And lastly, the same year, we were at the Outback and I randomly just passed out in the middle of the restaurant and had to be taken to the hospital. The doctors ran all kinds of tests and found no reason for my passing out. I then did it again at school in the cafeteria and also nailed my head on the hard floor. Not very painful, but everyone thinks I was just an attention whore or trying to get out of school. It went away after that, and I just figure it was stress along with whatever was happening at the moment. Kind of hard to remember the cause when you're unconcious (SP).

I will now own you with my pain
Seizure at the age of 6
Broken arm from slipping on a floor and smashing it on a granite pillar
Broken nose from football (Fastest and biggest player on the team, shouldered right in the nose)
Accidently kicked a cement pillar at full momentum during soccer, which hurt like hell and later in the week i had my foot run over by a car, and it got fractured
Got a concussion from tripping and slamming my head on the pavement.
One time we were playing basketball in the rain and we were trying to dunk so we set up a trampoline under the basket, I attempted a dunk and the rim was slippery so I slid under it fell and hit my head on the edge of the trampoline

You guys have crazzy insane injuries. I have had 3 kind of crazzy injuries (1 of them could have killed me if i didnt go to the doctor soon enough. Ill go from least to worst. When I was in 4th grade i was giving my friend a piggy back ride and another friend jumped on his back and I fell and i bent a funy way and the landed in my wrist and I broke it. Eh happens
. Next me and a kid at a cap were having a pillow fight and he hit my head kind of hard and luckaly there was a table with a sharp corner on it and i hit my eyebrow and for some reason it just kept bleeding so i went to the doctors office and they glued it together. Whateves. Now this one could have killed me but it only would have if I didnt go to a doctor for like a week or 2. My appendix ruptured and i didnt really realize it so i didnt go to a doctor for 4 days and those days sucked bad. All i did was throw up and never wanted anything to eat. So I went to the ER and i had to stay in a hospital for like 15 days. These arent super crazzy things like you guys but this thread is about injuries right?

I forgot something: a couple years ago, at the dentist, they couldn't numb a tooth they where trying to pull, so they kept injecting me w/ whatever that drug was called, until the needle hit the vain & I jumped out of the chair crying. This happened twice. The third time, I've developed a phobia of getting shots in my mouth, & couldn't even let the dentist give me the shot. Finally, I (technically) got "sedated mouth surgery", if you consider getting a tooth pulled surgery...
EDIT: As luck would have it, I still have the dentist's card. "Oral Maxillo-Facial Surgery" it says...

I know it's wrong to laugh at another person's pain, but whenever it involves the testicles it's hilarious
.
These aren't serious injuries, but they are funny.
When I was 7, I got a multi-tool for my birthday or christmas or something like that, and I was so excited that I decided that I had to cut open this pack of lifesavers with the knife insode of it. Of course, I cut in towards myself and slice my thumb open. I still have a scar there.
When I was 10, I was playing on the monkey bars. I swung back to jump up onto the platform and I slipped, and laungchet myself at the platform and slammed my shin into it and I swear to god I chipped the bone. I could swear I chould feel a little something moving around int there and to this day that part of my skin it bone white.
I was walking into the school and this guy comes up behind me, grabs me by the shoulders and throws me into the wall right outside the building. He starts to punch me but before he could I punched him in the face and I hit his mouth and he backed off. I walked into the school and started to walk to class when someone pointed out I was bleeding. I must have clipped his tooth because when I look down at my hand, my knuckle is split open and blood is running down my hand and dripping onto the floor. I didn't even notice it, and it was a pretty small cut, but it was just bleeding all of the place. I start walking to the nurse to patch it up when I slip on my own blood that had just dripped off of my hand and I slammed my head into the wall and fell backwards on the ground.

Wow, reminds me of what I've done a couple years ago.Sword_Gun wrote:Heh ive walked face first into a parking meter.

I WALKED right into the wall. Yup, I just got out of there to keep from doing that again.
I had appendicitis about 5 years ago, and if anyone here has had appendicitis, they'd tell you that it just hurts. I'm not sure, but I think the pain is equivalent to having a fully blocked intestine. I hated it. That's why I got me appendix removed. Now I just eat more.
About 5 years ago again, I tried running and jumping onto a chair, but instead I slipped and my head fell on a corner of a desk. The cut was on my eyelid. I never thought blood could come out that fast, cause I felt it running down my head and face in a matter of seconds. Oh well, it got stitched up, Happily ever after, the end.

Well we're on the topic of hitting our heads. When I was 7 I was riding my bike over to a church (across the street) and hit the speed bumb. I lost control of the bike and smashed my head on the ashphalt. Ended up being knocked out, having a wond that went from the center of my head to the out side then down the right side of my face, and lastly I have a split eyebrow as a final result. For those that have see the picture of me they shoudl know what it looks like.
I also smashed my head about 3 years after that when I was riding my bike during winter. I was riding down a drive way when I hit a patch of ice. Well I got home and tried to sleep best I could. In the morning the damn thing had swollen to the point it looked like an egg was under the skin, got worse as the swelling when over my eye so I had to actively work to see out of it. Thank god no permanent damage though.
