Nothing's perfect! Not even you, DS Lite!

I just discovered my DS Lite has the rare (but dreaded) hinge defect. It stinks! I thought I was home safe when I didn't have the touch-screen error or the fixed pixel problem. Oh well; at least Nintendo offers damn good customer service!

Have you guys had any problem with DS Lites yet, or Nintendo defects in general? I must have some bad luck; nearly every Nintendo handheld I've had has gone AWOL!

GBO: Stopped working. Just stopped. Nintendo offered me a new one, but at age 4, I was too dedicated to give up my red Play It Loud! GBO. Come to find out a few years later, my mom swapped the system for a new red one anyways. Turns out, though, it has the same problem. Great.

GBA SP: The L button stopped working, and the system was out of warrant. Turns out it was just a bad tact switch; would've fixed it myself had I know how back then.

DS (Silver launch one): It fell off my bed while charging ONTO THE CARPET and the hinge cracked. Just my luck.

And now my DS Lite. My only non-problematic handhelds from Nintendo were the GameBoy Pocket, the GBA, and my Hot Rod Red DS Brick, although if I weren't so protective of it, I'm sure it very well might've suffered the same fate as my poor launch DS. Any defects/problems from you guys?

Wow, that is the sux, man! I have never, ever had a serious problem with anything I bought from Nintendo (other than the faulty cart connector on my used n64 (don't worry Marshall not the one I traded you, the one I bought after that with wave racer and the ram expander) and besides what do you expect I got it at a flea market!). I mean the screen on my original arctic white GBA is completely scratched up but we all know whose fault that is

The only time I've had any problems with Nintendo stuff is when I caused them, like with my GBC and GBA. If I had a DS and the case broke, I'd be fine with it because then I'd have more of a reason to put it in a custom case.

My heavily-used GBC doesn't look that nice (with all of the labels peeling), but it still works great. The only problems I've ever had with Nintendo products are the following:

1. GameCube analog stick deadzone: the controller that came with it is barely usable nowâ€¦

2. NES controller cord failure: This one is actually kind of funny; while I was playing NES with my brother-in-law, my dog (then a puppy) walked up and bit his controller cord, which took me awhile to learn how to fix. All five wires were severed, but I managed to solder them back together and insulate them with heatshrink tubing.

3. Dead GBC game batteries: self-explanitory, though I lost all of PokÃ©mon Red, Yellow, Blue, Gold and Silver to it. Ah well, I don't play them anymore anywayâ€¦

Whoa, wait, Nintendo usually makes very solid products. My GBA SP went through the washing machine and it works perfectly. There's just a little bit of soap deposit inside the screen.

I think my DS lite has the same problem. It also has a dead pixel. And it's getting dirty. How do I get a new one for free? I should do it!

EDIT: Oh I have a funny "defect." I thought my SNES broke because the card slot cover thing wouldn't open because I thought there was something jammed in there. Turns out that it won't open if the power slider is to the ON position. Nintendo isn't stupid!

ive literally beat my GC controller on a chair or the ground etc, no problem, the lite does seem to be a bit fragile but most nintendo products are really REALLY durable

2 years ago, my brother had gotten a GBA SP. my friend was over, my brother had played zelda" a link to the past for 3 hours and was at ganondorf. i was mad because he wouldnt get off the computer chair and tore the cartridge out. he threw the system on the ground and the screen cracked. it was his fault, but he still cried all day.

You might want to leave out the part about your friend being over, I thought he was the one that broke the SP.
That would be a pretty stupid thing to do "You made me mad so I'm gonna break my stuff!". If he had thought, he would have broken something of yours, or just have done nothing at all.
