Where have all of the Radica ROMs gone?

I wasn't expecting an overseas shipment... it kinda seems like that's a bit too much work.

It's possible that it's simply a 50/60Hz jumper... but who knows with these things, yeah?

The Sega Toys systems are fairly cheap here too (2079 yen incl. tax) if you know where to look (Sofmap), so I might just break down and get one. I don't think I'd want to put someone through as much trouble as to fill out a customs form

Ah, yes - I see your point!

If it's Japan then I'd need to fill out lots of forms and stuff.

Still though, you'll already have the "SEGA TOYS" version of the ROM - so you'll still need the "Radica Games" version for the set...

There's always eBay I guess...

Well, you can scratch the "F1" component from the "does it switch the vid mode" list...nope it doesn't!

Due to the slightly more "tidy" design of the mainboard on the Radica UK units, the extra "F1" component is simply a "link" for the V+ on the mainboard.

In short, the U.K. Radica won't even power up without it (you effectively "disconnect" the power if you remove "F1").

On the up side, if anyone is re-casing their Radica when modding - the switch assembly can be replaced with a single locking SPST "LED" switch.

(A locking-switch with an LED in it - DOH!)

The RED and BLACK wires power the LED, whilst the other two (YELLOW / ORANGE) are the switch poles.

Note that the LED in these switches is rated at 2.2V-3.3V, so in order to stop it from going 'pop' - attach a 100 ohm resistor to the +ve terminal of the LED.
