Also don't forget that alkaline batteries can't handle heavy loads like what a PSone screen and Genesis will. Even in series, you have the problem of those batteries voltage dropping faster then say a Ni-MH, on a graph it looks to be a 45 degree angle down.
Serously just invest in rechargables, they have high capsity, and will cope with the high current draw.
