Baked potato anyone? (Large picture)

So this is my new Spudzooka. It is one bad-ass mo' fo'. It's got two 4' long, 1-1/2'' ABS barrels, a 2' combustion chamber, and a BBQ lighter for ignition purposes. At the moment, I am using Right Guard Deoderant spary as the fuel, and does it ever give a big bang! At first I used hairspray, but it was crap. It just gummed up the chamber and stunk really bad. I'm gonna experiment with some different fuels for best performance.

Thats one mean looking chunk of pipe! So it shoots two projectiles at once?

Yes it shoots two of whatever you put into it. And does it ever shoot far! There is a dike next to my house, its probabally 70 feet wide, and right next to that is a golf course. From my house, i can shoot 2 apples across the dike, about halfway into the golf course. It is one wicked weapon...

spud guns are wicked lol. ive heard of people knocking over small trees with them from like 50 yards, as im sure you know, never EVER point one at a person, even if their like 100 yards away, even at that range you could probably break most of their ribs >.> lol, i love guns and explosives! and seige weapons and edged weapons etc!, i have a trebuchet that im gonna get working again as soon as i find a counterweight. when it was running on garagedoor spring power it could throw a 16oz pop bottle full of water about 275ft, should be able to do better with a decent counterweight and be more consistant to boot, its fun

i recall after colombine my dad came back from his nato tour and gave me a huge pile of C-675 model rocket engines, yeah me and Will (the crazy rilligious kid that made bombs all the time) had some fun man... whats wrong with my parents? I mean I still had fun and only me and will got hurt but dont you think that was the wrong time for that? but i guess that was fine cus like i listened to maryln watched south park loved the matrix I loved exploding crap but I just truned out to be a hippy a passave stoned Emo kid... man the 90s suck you kids these days dont ever go back to the 90s way stay boring and plastic and proud...

lol I loved the 90s when i think about it, I remeber what i was doing on 420 the year those two opened up at that school. I was in a field with my buddy skipping school getting high, whats wrong with that? I didnt know any one who was plaining to go home and worship hitler. yeah so when 420 comes again be like me protest viloance, have a party. Say DAmit hitler you suck!! hitler your a pussy!! and when some of your buddys are like "hey... man, why are you taking to that dog? that dog never hurt any one... no one gave you the right to talk to that dog man..." you then know youve made a difrance.

Even since I saw a show about trebuchets when I was around 10, I've wanted to build one. Maybe my friend and I can make one before school starts...

Have you thought of using a high proof type of alcohol, or paste ethanol?

I made a trebuchet not too long ago. And it sucked. A LOT. I used plans some guy made off the internet. It was maybe 3 feet tall and launched a foam ball about that far as well. Heavier balls didn't work much better.

As for a fuel, use ethanol, or if you can manage it, for a REALLY big BAAAANNNNGGGG, use phosphorus (match heads).

When phosphorus ignites, the products it produces are either 75% or 90% gases. It's a nice explosion. But after you need to get the matchheads out, or they'll explode out as a shrapnel. Not like anybody's gonna stand in front of that thing, but still.

Or Fondue fuel. It's basically coloured methanol.

perhaps you could just have an end cap that you could put on the end (and probably screw on in two places) as an option to double the power of the first barrel.

i would be interested to know what muzzle velocities you are getting, do you think you could measure? there was a recet hack on hackaday about measuring the velocity of projectiles. im sure it wouldnt be hard to hack something together. this is a hacking forum after all (haha... hack.)

experimenting with fuels you say? well. heres an idea. use fuel and an oxidizer. some ones that come to mind: ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid. (anything -peroxide -nirate or -nitrite)

the use of odxidisers with fuel is an important concept in explosives and rocketry. gunpowder is just carbon and an oxidizer (and sulphur).

I'm going to make an adapter so i can use propane as a fuel. And as for 2 projectiles = 1/2 power, thats not true. because the expansion of the gases distributes the same psi on each projectile. It really depends on the chamber to barrel size ratio.
