But even if that were to work, wouldn't you still have to worry about making GC disks?

that would be easy but you would probably need a chip in your GC to play it, just buy some 8cm dvd-r discs

I'm pretty sure that the GC disk format has something to do with it spinning backwards and some other wierd proprietory formatting.

Both of you are wrong. From being discussed at gcdev.org, the disc is just a normal mini-DVD. It just had a barcode, which is virtually impossible to reproduce (unless you're Datel or something).
