Truth? Or blatant fanboyist lies?

www.esix.us/PSP>DS.php

I have no PSP, so someone tell me the truth.

I the incrowder PSP's, and the DS lies.
I the PSP lies, as well as that stupid get em both and solve the arguement. (Not everyone is rich/cares)

No flamewars. At the first sign I will request lockage. We should just get a sheet of facts, only to see which is more powerful, not which is better.

The PSP is literally a Portable PlayStation. That's why it's specs are very good. The DS is a continuation of the Game Boy series. They're coming from different directions. The PSP is going off to the side with the PlayStation series, and the DS is moving forward with the Game Boy series. So really, they're not the same thing at all. They shouldn't even be at war. It's like a laptop versus a Pocket PC. They do close to the same thing, but they are very different.

Just what I think. Hope I wasn't too biased.

If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.

A very interesting view.

But werent the PSOne's graphics worse than the n64's?
And aren't the DS's graphics better than the n64's?

Coming from me, the one who bought both on their respective launch dates, used only one since than till a few days ago, here's how it goes down.
PSP:
Pros:
+Has nice screen
+Plays Music and Movies and views Pictures
+Web browser for FREE
+Easy gamesave managment
+Good selection of original games
Cons:
-Too many ports
-Screen is easily scratched (cover fixes this)
-Web browsing capability limited
-Movies must be in specific formats
-WAY to easy to play ripped games (or is this a plus?)
-Flash memory takes a beating with all these 'updates'
-Portable disc drive=low battery life

DS:
Pros:
+Good selection of games
+Hard for ripped file usage (or is this a minus?)
+Good/Decent battery life
+Video quality better than an GBASP/GBAM/GBA
+First party support OK
Cons:
-Video quality worse than PSP
-Too many ports
-Functionality outside of gaming next to none
-Large and unweildly (I have never owned, nor intend to get a DSLite)
-No free/currently available web browser

There is no particular order, just what came to mind.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

PSP:
Pros:
+Has nice screen gp2x's lcd is more vibrant and less prone to ghosting
+Plays Music and Movies and views Pictures so does gp2x
+Web browser for FREE so does gp2x with a bit of work
+Easy gamesave managment not sure what you mean by this
+Good selection of original games gp2x does to, WAY more so than psp, and all free right now, a few commercial games in the works
Cons:
-Too many ports
-Screen is easily scratched (cover fixes this) screen cover is good, replacements are cheap
-Web browsing capability limited same with 2x, no native browser yet, only links and qtopia opera
-Movies must be in specific formats divx and xvid, can add codecs
-WAY to easy to play ripped games (or is this a plus?) a plus for sure lol
-Flash memory takes a beating with all these 'updates'[/b] flash ram is good for a TON of writes, gp2x gets firmware upgrades but to fix things not break them[/b]
-Portable disc drive=low battery life no stupid propretaty formats, sd cards are cheap, uses AAs!

my $00.02 psp to GP2x comparison here are some more misc facts on gp2x
=====GP2X====
+currently has SIXTY-ONE emulators, not all different systems but most are. list of emulators here
+archive has 192 freeware games listed, 5 commercial game demos, 20 interpereters (ported games EG doom, duke 3d, hexen, quake, flashback) and a lot more other stuff!
+its linux so it supports frontends like qtopia and x11
+has a very active and friendly (for the most part) dev community
+100% open source! no evil corporration trying to ruin your fun
+get over 5 hours of battery life on 2500mah AAs!
+ after shipping and tax it costs 4$ more than a psp BEFORE tax! if you buy a gp2x and a 1gb SD card it will cost you $226.45 this SD card a psp with 1gb memory stick pro duo 1gb will cost 253.665 cheapest one on pricewatch and thats not plus games and whatnot!

ive got a bunch more where this came from, feel free to ask for more info! if you cant tell i am 100% in favor of the gp2x over the psp, the psp is ok for commercial games and whatever but if your into homebrew and emulation gp2x is where the good stuff and value is at!

Code: Select all

If emu = easy to get on and use
then get gp2x
If too complicated
then curse
otherwise stick with ds
To lazy for code

God, man, when can I get a gp2x?!? is it portable or console?
