Slushie's tutorial sucks, so don't even bother reading it.

I tried to flash my TSOP. I gave up, it never worked right! Just get the DuoX2 GS for $12.99, you can't go wrong.

With slight modification, yes. But you won't be able to turn the chip off.
appleguru from Xbox-Scene wrote: Any solderless adapter that supports 5v will work fine.. You'll need to solder a jumper between d0 and pin 4 on the chip and you should solder one between BT and pin 9 as well. Then just stick it on the solderless adapter header and you're good to go.

Adapters that work:

Xecuter xapter, xapt3r (1.0-1.4), xapt3r (1.6; you need to solder the 5v wire to the 5v pin on the chip though)

Xodus Universal Solderless Pro Adapter (1.0-1.4, 1.6)... (The xodus only version wont work as it doesn't have 5v, but the newer ones that come with the gold 24k chips are all the universal ones anyways).

Most others :P

If you're going to order, here's some places I suggest.

Divineo China - they have a $5 shipping deal on orders weighing under 1kg.
Divineo Canada/USA - more adapters and solderless chips (they cost about the same, if not less, than ab adapter and a chip)

Now since you're going solderless, I would have to suggest just buying a solderless chip then having to deal with buying an adapter seperate.

i create an installer some years ago that will flash your tsop very easy... i use it to mod arround 150 xboxes... all you need to do is solder the points to enable the flashing, run the installer and sellect flash tsop on the menu... also the installer came whit a small stupid tutorial so ensure you will not fail... if you want i can update it whit the last updated bios (x2 and M8)...

also if you want something more secure you can use this!!!!
http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-xb-hyperx

or from a better brand...
http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-xb-x26-sl

(they bot do the same)

Is this the FIFO one or am I thinking of the wrong person?

I would go with the HyperX and get it from Divineo China, since shipping would be $5, so it would be $30 instead of like $10 for shipping at Divineo Canada/USA.

You have Xbox 1.0 right? Now the brand of TSOP determines what points you have to solder. Here's a page that shows what points you have to solder. If you have a Sharp TSOP, you have to solder another wire.

For this you need an Action Replay or to make an USB adapter for flash drives.

dont need to ask for use the pics...

also... to take advance of your xbox version you can make a multi bios tsop. this is a really good option...
look at this pics
Image
for 2 bios tsop use this pic
if you follow this pic can have 2 bios on the same ship... one hacked and one original. the original one will be always protected and cant be accidentally reflashed... the original bios will be allways there in case some one mess something you can boot original an reflash the other bank..
S1 is the bank switch...
S2 is optional if you want additional protection

pros... multi bank..
cons... extra soldering

Image
for 4 bios tsop use this pic
this is the same as the other one but in this case you will have 4 bios... 3 hacked and 1 original...

S1 and S2 is the bank sellector
S3 is optional for additional protection

pros... 4 bios
cons... insane soldering

i recomend anyone the 2 bios way
any queastion let me know

also... i need to know wich of the games to make the hack you found to compile the installer for that game

good luck

What if he has a Sharp TSOP, then he has to solder an extra wire, right?

yes... in case of the sharp he will have to solder that extra wire, put the jumper on the back, boot the installer and when ready to flash put the flash enable point on the front and the flash...

in other words look at this pic...
Image
step by step...

1- put a line of solder on the points that are on the blue circle (right side of pic, back side of the mobo)
2- put a wire on those points of the mobo (right side of pic, back side of the mobo
3- put one wire on the Point A and one wire on the Point B like 6" each (left side of the pic, front side of the mobo)
4- Boot the Installer and when you are ready to select flash on the menu join the A and B wires to enable the flash... the flash and wait... thats all

if you plase all the jumper before power the xbox it will simply dont boot

you can also make the 2 bios trick and place the sharp jumper... put the S2 to Off and turn on when ready to flash... thats all... but remember that the console will not boot on "sharps" if the enabler are on when you turn it on
