Making movies...filmers (Ben) come here *NEW WIP*

For all you filmers out there...what are some good video editing programs? I'm not making a movie, I'm spoofing a trailer to a movie that was already made. My goal is to make it as professional as possible. Anyone got any good tips? I have the filming done, we just need to edit it. I also have anothing question for people who have filmed before... we were thinking of dubbing our voices and everything we say into an mp3 file, then another file for sound effects, and then one for the music that will be added in. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks guys

Adobe Premiere. (It's the same program all the pro's use)

If you want to be EXTREMELY cheap, you could use MS Windows Movie Maker, but that would reek of stinkage...

Hehe, I was actually thinking of using it...but yeah it it does reek of stinkage

I'll give those programs a try. I have this program called Auto GK that compresses video but also creates an output folder of files that belong to the video one compresses. Inside the folder I found out it creates an mp3 file with all the sounds in the video. I was thinking maybe we should redo the filming and then compress it so the audio will be seperate, therefore we could add background music,special effects, etc. that way. Which way sounds more feasible?

That sounds like turning a house to screw in a lightbulb.

In Premiere (I have no experience w/ the other recommended program), all that stuff is as simple as drag & drop!

Holy crap I better start downloading

I guess we will have to refilm too since there is a good deal of background noise...thank god its only a 2 minute trailer. Nothing too serious

I can tell you the movie we based it on, which was "When a Stranger Calls". It was such a horrible movie that we felt obligated to spoof it in one way or another. The rest of the information is classified until further notice

I use Adobe Premiere Pro for editing. But if you want free, and not Windows Movie Maker, you could get DDClip Free. I've never used it, but it's supposed to be really good.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only filmmaker here!

I'm glad to hear there is more film makers out there than I thought. We have our made up productions company called Shamrock Productions. We definitely need a new logo because ours is pretty corny. We made a whole movie before that was for my English Class. It was supposed to be like an 8 minute presentation on King Arthur, but we dragged our movie to be a half an hour long! We got an A+ and he had to reschedule a test because it threw off the whole week

Here is our myspace that has parts 1,2, and 3 of King Arthur on the left hand side. Anyone else have a myspace, website, or youtube dedicated to filming?

I didn't make the myspace, but I did upload the videos so I'd have to find out the password and whatnot from my friend to change it

Dude, you are freaking Monty Python comparable funny! (By the way, if you're gonna use MS Powerpoint for credits, at least use a tripod...)

Heh, thanks. At the time, we didnt have a tripod or anything and we had about 3 weeks which wasn't enough for editing, planning, etc. So yeah its kinda thrown together, but I think it came out good

Get Sony Vegas, its expensive BUT it has a lot of stuff like Capturing, the ability to create Credits, etc.
