Im going to basicaly redo my entire compy. So first things first. OS. I have Windows Media Center 2005. But I really like Linux Ubuntu. That is very sleek and I really do plan on playing to many video games on my computer. Just my portable future portable systems. Windows is very very nice but it does have its weaknesses. Not very sleek for one thing. Another thing is waaaaaaay to damn easy to get a virus without the proper virus protection software. But it does have its advantages also. Play any game you want to. Lots of people have it. I dont see too many problems with linux though. DOne with OS. Linux or Windows?
Now for the applications. Well for the internet browser easy. Firefox. SO basicaly what are some good programs people should have on their computer? Like what do you guys have on your computer that you guys use every day? I would like to have like one programming program that beginners use. Probably BASIC right? Ok that does it for apps.
Sorry for the long ass post guys. What do you guys think? I have a laptop. Does that make a difference in anything at all? I hope not. Im not the super computer genius so I need your guys's help. Thank you for all the people that hbelp out in this post!

Just keep Windows on & install Ubuntu. Just use both.

You could try python. I'm learning it currently, and it's fairly easy. It doesn't spoil you as much as BASIC, but isn't as complicated as C.ValiantVenality wrote:I would like to have like one programming program that beginners use. Probably BASIC right?
As for OS, I agree with the others. Dual boot, and set Ubuntu as your primary boot OS. When I dual booted, Windows was the primary, and so I stopped using linux almost entirely. (iTunes was another factor) DAMN YOU DRM!!!!!
