Help! softmodding my Xbox

Post by XPCportables »

I need a good guide for installing evoX on my version 1 Xbox. I have googled this but I only found guides on doing it with a mod-chip. I heard from a friend that you can do it through an exploit in mechassault. I would also like to know if there are any other good dashboards besides EvoX

Catch me on MSN, I will get you running with Ndure 1.0.

You need Mechassault (non-platnium) and an Action Replay.

XBMC is by far the BEST dash.

I personally have a DuoX2 GS chip with Xecuter 2 4983.06 BIOS running UnleashX. I have XBMC and EvoX also installed.

You can see me hardmod it in my video.

You can also use 007: Agent under fire (non-platinum) or Splinter Cell (regular or platinum). I used a Platinum Hits version of Splinter Cell I got at GameStop for $2.99.

And yeah get XBMC.

EvoX is better. I use XBMC, but just boot it from within EvoX

EvoX's FTP server is HORRIBLE though! UnleashX and XBMC's FTP Servers PWN EvoX's!

I had Ndure first but then I put the chip in. The whole the unlocking/locking thing is not necessary, as the Xbox will boot off an unlocked harddrive since you have a modified BIOS into a thirdparty dash, only the MS dash will comlain and give you error 5.

Heres what you want to do. Get the two splinter cell linux files that include evox off of Xbins. You can get into xbins by following this tutorial http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php Its super easy. Just grab the two linux files put them on a memory card through action replay put the memory card in the controller and copy them to your harddrive. Launch up Splinter Cell and click on profiles (I think thats the first thing) and then click on Linux (it will be a choice because one of the two files were a splinter cell profile that linked to the real linux) and then click on checkpoints. It will bring you to a linux menu. You can install it however you like. The option to install evox will be there. And if you just want to ftp to your xbox you don't even need to install evox. Just when that menu is up just go ahead and ftp to your xbox. Easy as that. Heres a website that will help www.assassin4hire.com or go to the x-scene forums. Hope this helps! And if I broke a rule by putting a link in just go ahead and delete it mods.

Edit: If you don't want to go through the hassle of xbins (not that hard just kind of weird at first) just pm me your email address and I'll send the files.

It can with Px HDD Loader.

I'd suggest installing UnleashX as a main dash (you can select with EvoX or UnleashX when installing Ndure), and XBMC as a application. You can rip games and stuff (ONLY RIP ONES YOU OWN!!!)

The person was probably stupid and unlocked their harddrive. You can't do that on a softmodded Xbox, you need a modchip with a hacked BIOS.

Basically if you get a chip, you can't mess up your Xbox because you can just pop in a UnleashX cd and fix whatever you broke.

I just read a guide on tsop flash, and it seemed rather extremely complicated, so I think I'll pass on that.
