I just ordered my 5th N64...

In my progress in building the 64SS, I've bought 5 boards. 5.
1. Died of not-so causes, fell a couple times and cartslot hell.
2. Died when I put too much heatsink grease on it. Smush!
3. Died out of no where, worked when fully assembled, doesnt work with Heatsink and RF sheild off, just plain bizzare.
4 and 5 are being shipped.


I just don't have very good luck with this, do I?

i fried 4 making mine. 5th time's a charm . some of them can survive anything if you don't do any real damage to it, some of them are really fragile. you just have to have a good board and be careful

All I can say is, the faster I finish this monster, the quicker I can start project chainsaw. I think the that either the 4th or 5th one will be the one, baby! This time! The other 3 were practice...

try and get a NUS 004 those are pretty durable, the only reason mine fried was because i accidently touched the 7.2 volt line to the ground line

I've never fried a N64 motherboard myself, the one in the L64 is a NUS-005. They are not very resistant to stupid wiring mistakes, or overvolting. But, if you're always careful, you can minimize the damage you do.

i never fried one up until yesterday, when i was testing it and like you said i made a stupid wiring mistake and bam, but then later that daymy second mobob just stopped working

also marshall did you relocate the expansion slot or jsut have room for the pack in your L64
