What's with my controllers?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

What's with my controllers?

Post by Insert_Name_Here »

I took off the plastic on one of my SNES controllers, kept all the rubber jargon in place, and extended the shoulder buttons. I have it plugged in with the normal controller port. When I try to play my game, none of the buttons will work... (actually for all I know it could be just the start button :? ).

I tryed my spare controller which is still intact and it works perfectly. I also am 100% positive that the black thing on the rubber is making a connection between the metal on the controller.

This same problem happened to another controller of mine (which I took off the covering to...)

Anyone know what the deal is with my controller?

Try a few different games. It could also be static electricity, I lost a PSOne screen mobo that way. Other than that, I don't know what else could be wrong :? .

CTFan

EDIT: Are they third-party?

Yea actually I just figured out that the one not working is some awful chinese knockoff. (The grey part around the ABXY buttons is a sticker  )

I got my original controller working with the case off, I don't know what was going on before......

Thanks anyways! :D

Ok, I wired everything together, its all in the case, and the game is running. I havent touched the controllers since they started working and now they don't work anymore

I was wondering if maybe a broken capacitor would be the problem, as a couple were broken that caused the game not to work....

If not the capacitors, what do you think is going on?

Yeah this happened to me, one time the controller just wouldn't respond. Then another time i tried using my SuperGB on my SNESp and the controller was really wonky. Like the B button was every button and all the others didnt work. Then it stayed that way with all games. However a quick controller change(I had 5) and it was good as new.
SNESp - 100%
Protable X - 15% - I need money :(
