SNES problems.

I hooked up my snes to run off the "extra" power of my PS One screen, and for some reason, when I plug it in, the PSone screen turns on but the snes doesn't. I reassembled my snes and plugged it into the TV and found that it was still working. (blue capacitors were not the problem, nor was it fried...)

I wired the snes to the screen exactly how the book said, but it still doesn't work.

Any ideas on what is wrong?

Did you tie the grounds and run the power off the 7805 directly into the 5v input?

Did you jump the switch on the SNES so its always on?

Make sure you're connecting to the correct place for ground on the SNES. Just to be safe, connect to the big metal strips on the sides - that's ground for sure.

which 7805 did you get the power for the snes from. the lower one cant give the snes enough juice so you gotta get it from the 7805 on the right side of the mobo

Yes, the switch is jumped.

I am drawing power from the right 7805 into where the old 7805 was in the SNES. I am taking a wire from the ground where the AC adapter or w/e (the thing you plug into the wall when the SNES is in one piece) and connecting it to a scraped copper spot next to the upper right 7805. (This is what the book said to do so....)

BTW: What do you mean by "tie the grounds"?

Ground of the screen to the ground of the console.

Yes, the SNES ground is going to the screen ground.

There's your problem - your ground to screen from your SNES is wrong. Actually, it's wrong in Ben's book - connect to the circular hole directly beneath it, not the oval hole.

...I had the same problem myself a couple of months ago and it drove me nuts until I figured out what was wrong. Test it for yourself with a multimeter.

on the power connecter spot, the back hole (oval shaped, where you have the gnd now) is actualy positive, connect it to the other hole

Try to clean that up.

In Forum 42, there is a sticky with them, they are good, but it would be nice if some else did the camera work, instead of vb just guessing with it on a tripod (and holding items next to the camera instead of in front, he really needs to have someone helping him or a camera with an lcd that can flip around to show what the camera can see).
