A bad year for me breaking new things

Post by psychotic_mechanic »

ACK!

First my digital camera burns up the lens mechanism (luckily a few weeks before the warranty went out)

Then my PSP's UMD drive stops reading disks (still being worked on)

And now the crap DVD-RAM drive in my toshiba laptop isn't recognizing DVD's. It will burn and play CD's, but won't do anything with DVD's. Any quick fixes out there? It's about a month or so out of warranty. I tried installing the latest drivers.

BTW, please learn from me and if you are offered an extended warranty on a major electronics purchase, take it. They don't build them like they used to (The mitsubishi projection TV that my family had that lasted 15 years or the washing machine older than me come to mind)

This make me wonder about my SFC :D . Generally I don't break anything, I fix them.

My mom's camera got broke but it was in the warranty and I did break my first DC and it was under warranty. Oh and my DS has dead pixels and it was under warranty but I still have to call Nintendo for more problems, cause they don't know how to fix their own products.

Warranty is good.

I generally have pretty good luck with this kind of stuff not dying on me for no reason. This is good, since I get most of my stuff used, so no warranty. If stuff dies, I was usually at fault. I almost killed our digital camera a year ago, I tried powering it with a wall adapter, and gave the poor thing 7.5v instead of 3. It flashed and so I was like, why'd it do that, and realized I had gave it 7.5v. Fortunately, it started working fine a few hours later.

I hear ya man. My iBook's hard drive died (a year out of warranty), as well as its CD drive, so I bought a replacement 40gb HD and Pioneer DVD burner. Well, the DVD burner (slot loading, just to make things complicated) does not eject, unless you shove a business card up its... opening. The new HD i bought died after a month of use, luckily it was a good reputable eBay seller, who offered me a warranty. I chose to go with manufacturer's warranty instead, since it was their fault not his. Anyway I got the stupid drive back yesterday after a week and a half, and I reassembled the iBook, a daunting task trust me. Finally I installed everything and it works fine now.

Oh and my stupid chinese mp4 player broke too when it fell out of my pocket when I was mowing the lawn. That's my third mp3 player. I thought iPod's were the only mp3 players that were built to be unreliable??? :P

That's a common problem w/ the DS Lite. Just send it back to Nintendo of America to get it fixed...
