Looking for stereo advice

No, not advice in stereo... advice about what kind of stereo to get!

I recently bought this bad boy and that's almost exactly what it ended up being... a bad boy. The main reason I bought this particular model was that it would work as a USB host, meaning I can plug in a USB thumb drive (or, in my case, a 20GB MP3 player) and it would read all .mp3 files there. Unfortunately, this has very little error protection to speak of. No matter what it is reading from, there will always be a point in a song where it will go crazy, changing the songs and playing in the middle of these new songs.

Tomorrow I am planning on returning the stereo I bought, but this leaves me without a new one. Can anyone suggest a stereo with nice USB capability? I would really like something that acts as a host rather than a terminal... both would be awesome, but I don't know if that even exists.

My price range is roughly $130-150, and I'd prefer to get something from a brick and mortar store, if possible, as opposed to an exclusively online place.

Why not just hook your PC up to an amp? It'd be cheap, & PiMP7457!c!!! That's also what I did in my room (though I never use it, but my stepbrother does...)

If you watch <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FmxjjkV9_s">This video</a>, It's shown (but not shown in action)... (If I remember correctly, it's shown within the first 2 minutes of the video)

(There's also a "Computers Gone Wild" sketch-thing about half-way through the video too)

this probably wont help you, but a while ago i saw the VRFM9 (link) in popular science and i thought it was pretty cool.

Does it have sterio ports on the back of it? The red and white little plugin thingies? Thats what I used to use with my old sterio before I just hooked up a receiver to my computer, but just get this cord... http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/PureAV-P ... tDetail.do

A cheaper one will suffice that was just the first one I saw, but yeah, get that, plug it into your sterio and then uhh plug the other end into the headphones port on your mp3 player.

There is also another thing like that I saw only it worked with the tape deck and plugged into the headphones port.

uh yeah. just use your aux inputs... the cord is 4 bucks at fred meyer.

I didn't want to use AUX, since that doesn't show the songs on the stereo itself, nor does it let me change songs remotely. I found this at Target, and am pretty happy with it

Well, if you had a mac, you could put your PC to Red/White (AUX) in the headphone jack, and plug it into your surround sound system. Then use Front Row and your Apple Remote. Thats what i do. Even made my own converter cable from old headphones and video cables spray painted white and red.

But you dont own a mac and cant take advantage of this....so, hmm

You can get a USB remote for probably ~$25...
