Dual joysticks?

I have this weird idea. You know how some games have to use the dpad and joystick, and some games have to use the joystick and the a, b, and c buttons? Well, on a stock controller, If I put 2 joysticks on the same wires and controller, would it work? I'll try later, but I want to know if anyone else has tried. If so, Did it work? If it does, then I will add one to my portable.

What do you mean? Replace the d-pad with a joystick? Shouldn't be hard, you can't use the stock N64 joystick, but you can buy a 4-way joystick from various places that would work fine.

No I mean like, on a stock controller, you know how there is 6 wires on it? Well, tear up another controller, and take off its joystick. Then wire the 2 joysticks together on the same wires. Would they both work? Or would I need a switch?

I see you're eager, but sadly it won't work. The N64 joystick is something else and has it's own way of working, like it's own digital system that can't be tampered with (like you know, a Nomad Screen). But like joe said, you can buy a four way joystick from anywhere and implement that into the four way d-pad.

I think if you used a third party controller with pots, it might work. Not 100% sure though. The official Nintendo used an optical system, I think.

This is related, sort of...

On my 64SS I'm replacing the 4 C buttons with one big ol' C-stick I had lying around from a broken Gamecube controller. I just wire up 4 tact swithes in a diamond shape and super glue the stick on top of them.
