that circuit is soo screwed up. first off, you need at least 7.2 volts to power a 7805 to make it pump out 5v. second, you connect the the +wire from the batt. pack to the prong on the left, facing the 7805 from the front. you connect the -wire from the batt. pack to the middle prong. to get power to the NOAC, you hook up the positive input to the right side prong, and hook up the negative/ground to the middle one. i'd make a pic, but i dont have time now. for a batt pack, i would suggest going to radio shack and buying either rechargable 6 AA's or a 7.2v batt pack.

Thats how you bypass a 7805, not how you use a 7805. So the only thing wrong with the drawing was what skyone pointed out, the ground pin should be on the middle.

EDIT:
Ha, look at my previous post. I said to connect ground to the middle and drew it going to the first pin. Also I explained there that you should "bypass" it with 4 AA's (or in his case AAA's)

bypass eh? prove me wrong. pull out a multimeter, try that circuit, and tell me what it outputs.

Ok, don't even argue here dude.

In this case, the 7805 is being BYPASSED which means it has NO FUNCTION. So if you bypass a resistor, no current is being reisted anymore, making it as if the resistor wasn't even there. In this case, bypassing the 7805 means that the 7805 has no function.

Dont need a multimeter cause the 5V is doing nothing special!

im not arguing. im telling. the 7805 has three pins, listed from left to right when seen from the front. +7.2-32v IN,-gnd,+5v out. if you read the instructions on the back of the packaging from rat shack, it depicts the exact wiring i explained. why dont you explain or depict how you do it?

Anywho, the regulator looks like that and is on the same side as the cartrige port. (I believe) To bypass this, connect the ground of your 4 AAAs to the center pin, and the positive lead of the 4 AAAs to the output pin. If that dosen't work, sometimes you have to tie the 5V to the input pin AND the output pin. So it will look like this:

ok, i think you meant that the way YOU'RE describing is how to bypass a 7805 then. sorry if i misunderstood.
