push me over the edge!

Post by Krepticor »

no not the edge of sanity (been there done that! ....twice  )

Anyway,

I am talking of well buying a PSP, yes a PSP

Since the release of VP: Lenneth and the rumors of a Final Fantasy: Crisis Core, I have been torn for a PSP

however, two games a system do not make!

and I know of the sin of EMU the PSP is capable of

I would like some good reasons, games and otherwise, to devote this much money and I am asking my forum members to help me

I know of these games:
Gradius collection
Lumines
Monster Hunter
Metal Gear Acid I&II
Darkstalkers: Chronicles

not really. PSP has way better games. Daxter, GTA, Wipeout Pure, Ridge Racer, Death Jr......and not to mention it emulates everything upto and including the N64 (Cant wait for Daedalus R7!)

DS: Nothing really....i sold mine.

Btw, this is coming from a Sony hater, i hate Sony, but they did good on the PSP. Best handheld ever.

Get the ones i mentioned, they're like the best games ever :D And dont update past 2.6 if you get a 2.6 or lower PSP. Downgrade to 1.5 and put Devhook on it. You can enjoy the 1.5 and 2.71 world all on one PSP!

If you need more reccomendations for commercial and homebrew games, PM me (After all, i do have a PSP Page on my Portal)

Meh....I'd give the DS TONS more credit than that. The PSP, I think, will become the RPG standard for handhelds; at least it's got that going for it. And that's all it has going for it. I hate the PSP anyways, seeing as they need crap titles like GTA to make any substantial amounts of money.

well PSP is WAY more capable of a stable PSX emulator, because sony proved that with its full speed emu launching in november. The reason that there isnt one that is good released yet is because no dedicated and skilled coder has worked on one yet.

I am a PSP owner and I think its a great system, but i'm not going to deny the lack of good games out right now. I have 1.5 though and just play emu's and homebrew games to keep me busy until they are released (they are on their way). Right now i have a full speed NES, SNES, Genisis, and GBC emu, with a 15ish FPS N64 and GBA emulator, which are improving daily... thats enough to tide me over.

I have a ds lite and well I want to have a decent emu... not really for psx games or n64 mainly 16 and 8 bit

I know about the gp2x, but they do not have anything in the line of big developers for games, A portable linux console will only be so useful to me, I also want something that is pretty consistent in the emu department, for 16 bit apps, I want somehting that can run the Super FX games like a decent computer

Also, I know there is enough homebrew for the psp to keep me satisfied for a while (even if it is homebrewed 16 bit titles)

I just need a good dozen games and a few more reasons to get a psp, an no I won't sell my ds lite!

triton you so right its not even funny. The GP2X pwns. It was a handheld designed for emulation and at emulation it excels. Honestly right after i bought mine it was amazing what you could do!(Doom!! Quake!!! Duke Nukem!!!!!) All the mainstreme hit systems and more amazing homebrew (VEKTAR!!!! AHHHHHH) Besides sony's shunning emulation with every update so that could hamper the emulation scene. (Unless you downgrade firmware) It does everything the PSP can do but its specifically designed for those tasks unlike the PSP which is the jack of all trades but master of none. Movies? yup. Games? Hell yea! Music? Of course! Photos? Duh!! and much much more! Even the price beats the PSP's. (by a litle of course but non the less its lower) $200 to $189. Would you rather have Super Mario, Sonic, Metal Slug, and Final Fantasy or Blade Dancer, Rengoku, Dead to rights and MediEvil? BTW Triton its from you i learned about the GP2X so thank you thank you thank you!!!! *kisses shoes*

heh no prob, ive been with gp2x for a long time, i have a first edition preorederd october last year got it november! and
well PSP is WAY more capable of a stable PSX emulator, because sony proved that with its full speed emu launching in november.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA  it might be capable of more but does it HAVE a better one than the gp2x? NO the guy that made the current psp psx emu ditched psp dev to improve it on gp2x, its close to twice as capable as the current psp homebrew emu. yes with qtopia the browser has a GUI and its real nice, takes a while to load and stuff. gp2x has a HUGE homebrew/emulator community, probably bigger than the PSP at this point, it has some commercial games on the way and tons of amazing homebrew, great ports (doom quake marathon and tons more) emulators out the wazoo! (for at least 20 different systems if not more) its great and i havent regretted buying mine for a single moment.
