Just Making Sure!!

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Just Making Sure!!

(I am just making sure) RGB, S-video, and Composite video are all seperate video signals right? I mean Is it like RGB is contained in S-video or Composite. (For some reason I thought they were mixed or something.) :?

Composite is basically the combination of S-Video signals of Chrominance & Luminance.

And on most systems (specifically the playstation) you have the option of all 3 signals you can output? or am I wrong. (Sorry if i'm frustrating you guys, I guess this isn't the easiest concept for me to grasp  )

A lot of systems (in the US atleast) don't offer RGB out.

That's unfortunate, RGB is the clearest and sharpest picture available aside the HD pictures.

It's a shame....

Luckily you can mod most systems to output RGB!

Luckily, almost all systems can be modded for S-Video out! Even the Atari 2600!!!!

(I know it's obvious for BenHeck fanboys, but...whatever...)

Ok wait I'm confused. On the psx A/V pinout, there is RGB and S-video pins. I thought they were two different signals. :?

I always wondered about that. That means you don't have to use all of the pins from playstation to send a video signal out on a screen right. (Last question honest) :)

If you look inside any PlayStation A/V cable, you'll see only 3-4 pins are used...

Just a note to add, if you look at most Playstation a/v plugs they only have 6 pins in them. Now if you look at the actual console, there are 12 pins. So basically all the outputs are there, but it depends on what cable your plugging in.
