i know i COULD use a regular snes but i have a few questions:
How diffrent do the insides look ( i know its diffrent but will i be able to recognize the pieces by looking at the book)
how much more power does it need?
if i cant find a mini snes...

Well the SNES is square is shape, and I believe is dual layered PCB. The SNES-mini is a little thiner, about how a SNES mobo would be if you cut off the ground strips on the edges, and it's a three layered PCB (so you can't really cut it apart).
Many people have used the SNES mobo and haven't had a problem. If you really want the slimmer look the mini give, just cut the ground stips down or off.

the 1990 snes mobo is not much larger than the mini but it seems to be slightly more delicate
