Wii. Why it will win.

back on topic please the fact is that I right now have enough money for a PS3 an XBOX360 and a Wii, plus games the problem is that I am too stingy to even think about buying them

I have saved my money since I was 6 an now I have around 5000 in the bank (I know this seems to be a lie because this is the internet, your just gonna have to take my word for it)

I do know that the higher power consoles will be great but in relation to previous times, the ps3 is expensive but not too far beyond reason

The 360's price is ideal for the next gen but the companies do need to realize they can sacrifice a few features for a cheaoer console...or did they, Is this the Saturn all over?

Fact is that around the USA, people are spending like idiots, and all the consoles are planning to capitalize...

I like to wait for prices to drop and the new smell to stagnate, however, I think I am going to buy the wii and the PS3 new...go figure

I agree. Microsoft and Sony bump their prices because they can. People will willingly buy their system at the price they set it as.

Nintendo set their price to be affordable at launch.

PS2 and Xbox now cost nearly the same as the Gamecube does.

If Gamecube had DVD playback support I think it would have did better and probably could have kept up to sales with Xbox at least (only about 4 million difference between the two).

I really do wonder who's going to 'win' the console wars this generation. I think that the PS3 is going to kick ass in Japan, along with the Wii.
But over here in north america, it's really up for grabs. Nintendo does seem to be targeting the nongamers, but they're not going to get many of those. Most people looking at the wii will just say "What the hell?" when they see it. The 360 will probably do well, just because of Halo and the massive amounts of money Microsoft is throwing at it. And I really don't have any clue how well the PS3 will do, but I know that I'm getting one for MGS4. And I might buy a wii because my gamecube's busted and I still haven't beat Wind Waker or Metroid Prime.

Not appealing to gamers!? Hello, there's Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, Red Steel, Progect H.A.M.M.E.R., then there's the entire library of games they're putting making available for purchase on the Virtual Console!

360 has met its maker.. Since it's launch it's only sold about 10 million with no competition and has struggled in Japan. When PS3 and Wii arrive, it's going to be a no hope situation for Japan, and chances are it will go the way of Dreamcast. Microsoft need a radical plan and they need to execute it fast to stay in the race.. They've never dominated, they're losing money, and things aren't looking bright at all.

These are my opinions.

Microsoft + Nintendo = Ultimate Gaming Machine
Sony + (Insert anything here) = Bad idea
Wii con's:480p, non HD.

PS3 pro's: 1080p full HD.

Nintendo = Gaming Machine
Sony and/or Microsoft = Ultimate Gaming Machine

Thats my opinion

fyi only 15% of people own a hdtv that is the right type for a X-box 360 or a Playstation 3 so to most people it is just an extra $50 out the window

Isn't there a giant debate about true HD? Because there's so many form factors and sizes / resolutions and modes or something?

I don't see how higher resolution means ultimate gaming though... If the NES had a higher resolution than the Wii, would that mean the NES is the Ultimate Gaming machine?

thing is not very many tvs support TRUE 1080P most say 1080p and downconvert to 1080I and stuff like that

Is this what you want to think about every time you play on your Wii console? I didn't think so...

Has anyone seen Mystery Men? Has any one else noticed that The Spleen is played by Paul Reubens (who played Pee Wee)?

And good luck making a portable out of the Wii. That will be really awkward holding the portable and then pointing a wand at it. I don't think it would work very well with a small screen.
