Desoldering Iron not desoldering?

Well the title says it all. I'm practicing on a broken SNES cartridge for relocation, and my desoldering iron is NOT desoldering. The pump still pumps air, and the iron still heat up. I even filed the top a TINY bit to make sure that it was flat.

What's happening? Any clue? Should I just get a new one or something?

try getting some solder and melting it on there. If it doesn't melt, then there's your problem.

Unfortunately, that's NOT my problem. Solder still melts normally on the tip. Is it possible that the tip needs to be perfectly flat on the PCB to suck solder up?

I loaded both the wire and the iron with flux. Still nothing.

Might there be some build-up inside the nozzle? I had to unscrew mine and tackle it with a very skinny round file in order to get mine working well again.

Problem Solved, I just had to press really hard and figure out a "trick".

I only rippe dout about 10 pins in the end, pretty good considering there's 62 and they can be put back in rather easily.
