The PS2 needs some lovin'

There's been a few portable PS2s built, yet there is nothing about it on PoD or in the BenWiki, or even a sticky in this forum. I want to build one myself, but I don't even know where to start. I'm going to have to Search for every single little tidbit of information I need, which will be time consuming.

Can't the PS2 get some lovin'?

There must be some of you out there that are knowledgeable in this area. Would you mind compiling your knowledge?

Aren't you the one that didn't know what a diode was? Trust me, it's either going to be giant, or impossible...

And why does this matter in the slightest? Ben himself admits he had very little electronics knowledge when starting out. And still doesn't know everything.

Besides, I've already done a PSOneP, and completely redid the NESp I bought from vgcollector666 (which was probably harder than starting a new one).

This thread has a point. Your "personal attack" does not.

No attack intended. I'm just saying, it's virtually impossible to make a portable PS2 of a good size & weight. It'll be over a foot long, & weigh at least 2.5lbs.

well sort of does and does not the atack is not to say you wouldnt beable to make one but with out knowing what your doing you might end up with a huge paper wight of sub par components. more of a warning realy. and the reason why its not on POD is not up for heckrs its for PODs admins who you would have better luck PMing rather than asking us all for every peace of info we have. might start by doing your own research (start with the power suply) instead of asking for some one to do it for you. and if you make some head way and teach a known nubie such as your self... you sould have no problem posting a how too on the subject. sorry Ive got no help for you there are not tomany standarized tips for the PS2 so far every ones done the PSu quite difrent. but check for say segasonic fans Power diagrams.

So what's the difference between a Zener diode and a Normal diode? What about a Photodiode? And a Schottky diode?

I doubt anyone here know what everything is, and frankly, you're a noob.

Dude, think about it, at the size of the PS2 slim mobo, it's going to be at least 1.5" wide, plus the screen, drive, batteries, controller, etc...

I'm saying it's almost physically impossible, not attacking or flaming or anything...

(But obviously, I've been proved wrong w/ the PSTwoSP...)

...The PSTwo's case size is about 1.2", that's WITH case. Without case, the mobo must be about .7" at most. Screen is like, 1/3 of an inch, batteries are generally slim, controller is probably only 1/4 of an inch (mobo.)

It's not virtually impossible to make a good PS2, just as impossible as a Nintendo 64, they weigh the same and are they same dimensions as the PSTwos. Haven't you seen Ben's PS2p? Not PSTwop, but PS2, the big one. It's frankly one of the best portables I've seen, and it's not too big.

Have you ever been proven right?

Of course I've seen the PS2p (& aperrantly it's (probably) the biggest portable he's done)

The Slim PS2's mobo is seriously that small!? I thought it was bigger than that! Damn! (By the way, I forgot to mention the screen's PCB...)

OK, so we've established that it's not impossible, but can it (easily &/or n00bly) be done? (Seriously, I'm actually wondering this...)

of course it would require some soldering...

I have. I'm not asking for everyone to do the work for me. I'm simply requesting a concise, compiled list of info for building a PS2p. Not only for my own benefit, but for the benefit of future builders. If such things are so useless, there wouldn't be stickies in every other forum here, and PoD and the Benwiki wouldn't exist.

Everyone is really harsh around here. Heh. Oh well. Thanks for the support Skyone.

Oh, and as for size, I don't plan on doing anything special. Just a simple case mod similar to other PS2p's that have been made. Most recent example being tart31's.

hello mate if you have done some portables already then go for it.i chose this as my first project and must say it wasnt that bad to do at all .my suggestions would be ps2 slim ps1 screen because they can run off the same battery. you want the battery to be around 8 volts just over not under {the ps2slim is 8.5v the screen is 7.5 but will run a little higher} if you want some more info on what i did just ask.just be very carefull with the ps2 and you should be fine
