Well, that other PSP thread made me think of this.
Since i'm a dev team member at TeamQJ for PSP, I want to know what you guys would like to see happen at the PSP scene. Then we can get off of our asses and actually do something.
So here's your choices:
Firmware 2.7+ downgrader
Firmware 2.7+ eLoader
New homebrew games
New emulator
Custom PSP GUI (yet another one, lol)
Something else? (please explain)
Could a mod please poll-ify this?
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...
I'd like to see a fully/semi working PSOne emulator before Sony releases their official one. And then when it is released, implement the ability to use the compression meathods.
Actually, I became a dev team member very recently, when vb_master gave me the link in a PM.

I'm thinking that if a 2.7 downgrader can be made it will work with the 2.8 firmware with no or little modifications, because there were no new security implementations with 2.8.

can the GP2x emulate N64 yet? I really want one, but if the 2.71+ dowgrader comes out soon, I might not need one. BTW does anybody know if any PSP games require firmware higher than 2.6 yet?
If it could, it would be ridiculously slow. Even though it has dual 200MHz ARM processors, it doesn't have any hardware 3D acceleration so you'd pretty much use up its power just with a software graphics engine.
Better to build a N64p
iam, although i think its good that you are working on a dev team, i think that you are dreaming quite a bit. Dark_Alex (decrypter of firmwares 2.5 and 2.6, and creator of the downgrader) has succesfully decrypted 2.71 so that it can be emulated on devhook, but cannot find an exploit in it. The only reason that 2.6 was downgraded was because of a game exploit, which was patched in 2.7. Without GTA everyone on 2.5 and 2.6 would still be there, and there wouldnt be a downgrader, i'm pretty sure that sony's firmware is solid as long as a developer doesnt make an error, which sony won't let happen again.
Also, your statement about 2.8 and no increased security is utter BS. First off, firmware 2.8 (despite rumors) has yet to be decrypted, making it not known for sure, but in sony's firmware update changes, they no longer list "increased security," as seen with the release of 2.7 and 2.71, and you can bet your but that they did make some changes to security, because they are trying to stay multiple steps ahead.
EDIT: i voted new homebrew games, because i think that its something that your team will be capable of (its harder than you think) and hopefully can do well.
I honestly dont mean to be mean spirited and hope to see you on the dcemu or pspupdates news within the next couple weeks

As Marshall said, no way in hell. At least not more than a few FPS.
As Triton said, it does more in PSX than the PSP and with none of the decent features of the psp. The GP2x is essentially useless for 3d atm. At most running a single low poly model at about 20fps or so with all the 3d engines I have seen.
