I hate RealPlayer. It tries to associate itself with EVERYTHING, even some video files it cannot play! And it's full of ads and "special content".

As for the "it's easy to make quality videos on the Mac but not the PC" thing, I think they're referring to the fact that the Macs include iMove, while on Windows you either need to buy another software package, or use Windows Movie Maker (which, while it does its job, I think is crap. You can either export as WMV or 30 megs per second AVI. Yuck.)

Now, PSP vs DS: I dont' give a rat's [bum]. Sure the new DS Lite is smaller and the screen is even brighter, but other than that i has no innovation over the DS Hevy. PSP: It would be good for playing videos and stuff, but then again so is the new iPod. UMDs? Gimme a break. I don't want to buy another copy of a movie I already own. I think all this new stuff is unnecessary. The best thing for watching videos on the go (besides a laptop) is a portable DVD player, especially now that DVD+-RW DL drives are getting cheaper. Heck I just picked up a 3-pack of HP DVD-RWs at Target for 5 bucks. Playing games? I prefer the Game Boy Color, a PSX portable, or a deck of cards over the DS or the PSP. Listening to music? MP3-CD player or a tape Walkman. Yes, audiocassette. The 90 minute tapes hold more music than a CD anyways. (Not that there's anything new worth listening to in my opinion...)

In short: I don't want any of the newest portable game systems or portable media devices. They're all overpriced fancier versions of what I already have.

Heh, that was pretty funny. Although you could've done something funnier with that part where the PSP has the Ipod...

DS Lite: What're you doing?

PSP: Oh, just listening to some tunes on my Ipod.

DS Lite: Well, why not just listen to them on yourself?

PSP: Well, my battery ran ou......YOU CAN KILL A HOOKER WHILE DRIVING SOMEWHERE.

Really wierd, all the other forums I go to are fine with Real... It's the highest quality/low file size file I can make. If anyone can tell how to make an alternitive in Primiere Pro, tell me now. Because everytime a try Quicktime, the file is over a GB. And I am NOT uploading that.

That's a good idea! I'll use that in version 2.0!

Oh, and EDIT2: I really don't want to start a DS vs PSP war! It's just a video!

the only real positive thing about RM is that it can do variable bitrate really well, its not so much the format as the company that whores it and their questioable business practice

That's kind of funny. Their installation about the DS's touch screen isn't as funny as VGCats' DS running around screaming "Touch me!" I also know that the whole thing was done by people who clearly don't like the PSP. I mean the lame excuses he makes are just obvious of that fact.

I'm sure we all know why that is so- the DS lovers shout it all the time, and the PSP lovers try to come up for reasons against its validity :P

Perhaps they favor the DS because they actually favor playing video games ~_~

Aside from that, I can't seem to get the video to load.

Oh, and I use Realplayer for buying music. It's a little complex, but I can get away with not paying for that stupid Premium garbage by burning RAX files as audio tracks to CD, then ripping to WMP as MP3.

I like it! Though in the apple commercials, the star (Mac, in this case DS Lite) is really nice, he seemed aggresive in this spoof.

That's because... uh... he's mad at the PSP. Anyway, I'm working on a script for version 2.0. It has some of the things from the actual commercial, but changed to be funnier/DS and PSP related. Also, instead of the commercial for the DS, it's for both. Here's the image I'm going to use instead of the picture of the DS.

Should the new one be in wide screen?

I don't like the DS lite for one reason in particular. The stylus's are slightly bigger, so they don't fit into the old one. My old DS's stylus broke and now I need a new one and I'm going to pay an arm and a leg in shipping to get a knockoff version that will never work quite right. They are doing little things like that to push the new design.

And one of the points for the PSP that was very valid is that people assume that because the PSP costs more, it's automatically better. This is the same crowd that goes for Ipods and Macs. It costs more and apple has lied that their product was the first ever mp3 player so it's automatically better. My friend got an iriver, and some people actually made fun of her because she had a cheaper, bigger (in mem) and all around better design but it wasn't an iPod so it sucks.

Another good point is that PSP has movies out that are 2 hours long and the PSP has about that as their battery life. A lot of amatuer portable builders using systems designed to run at higher power consumptions have gotten more battery life out of their portables (in some cases PSone portables). That's just sloppy design there.

Another annoying thing is the videos themselves. They require you to buy another copy of your movie that can only be watched on the PSP (unless there are home PSP movie players that I don't know about) And you're rolling into town on fumes with most movies. I just don't understand how people can buy that crap.

They have made the old design obsolete by building a new one, better in every respect. Why should they support an old, out of date, obsolete design (very much)?

That statement is not accurate. The PSP battery has been shown to yeild about 4 hours in movie mode, and about 6 hours in game mode.

While I don't downright hate the PSP, I can't justify its price or fragility. The unit is very solid, but that large screen is just asking to get broken. In fact, I was actually frightened to put the PSP in my pocket unless I had the included soft pouch to place it in. PSP was kinda neat for a while, with the internet browser, music functionality, and video functionality, the novelty just didn't last.
