ps2 slim portable

I'm thinking of turning my ps2 slim into a portable console and I already made some basic drawings of what the end product could look like. But I'm not sure I could do it because I have no experience with electronics. I was planning on buying ben's book and reading the first section and then maybe attempting it. If i do make this, the dimensions for the box section will be 5.5 inch width, 5.5 inch height, and 3 inch depth. There will also be a controller split in half with each half sticking out of the sides. I'm planning on making it a square by moving the disk drive on top of the hard drive. I found a 5.5" portable color tv on ebay that looks good for this console. Would this project require vaccum molding or could i use home tools to do it?

I opened up my ps2 case to see if my plans could work and i saw that the motherboard goes all the way across the bottom of the case. So I can't make a more cube shaped ps2 unless i split the motherboard, but I'm pretty sure thats impossible. I'll pick a different design.

Yeah, soldering 100's of connections some less than a millimeter wide and who knows about layered boards. Oh well good luck man, you'll need it.
